New build

Hi guys hope one of you can help me. I've just got a new build and am trying to install W7 onto it as a clean install. Using a WD 500Gb SATA II. Ive set up the bios for raid on the MB but when I try running the install i can only get so far before i get eror messages saying i can install W7. Its at the point that its trying to copy the files onto the hd.The HD makes some sreaching noise when working. Ive change the HD to a ATA and installed W7 onto it np.
Ive even tried installing XP onto it too with no joy

Any help or info would be welcomed and i hope ive put thread in correct section.

Spec:
AMD Phenom II x6 1055 95w @ 3.8Ghz
Corsair XMS3 8Gb (4x2GB) DDR3
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H Motherboard
ASUS GeForce GT430 1Gb DDR3
WD 500Gb sata II (x1)
CoolerMaster (Wavemaster) - Case

Go and get a copy of WD's Lifeguard diagnostics from their site. The bootable ISO version is probably easiest but you'll need a working machine to burn the ISO to a CD.

If the drive fails the diags then it's RMA time

Run lifeguard a few times and its not detecting the drive. coming up with error 0120

Lifeguard probably can't talk to the drive because the SATA controller is in RAID mode. Reset the controller to IDE mode and Lifeguard should be able to see the drive.

Thanks for that bit of advise. Done it and got a large list of errors and been told to contact tech division for advice. will end up being RMA. Will let you know what happens.
