Okay three day’s worth of driving and 200 miles so what do I think of the car...basically love it, and the reasons why:-
- The noise it makes
- It’s road presence
- The noise the engine makes
- It’s pulling power (talking torque rather than cruising the local Mc’Ds)
- It’s something different
- The noise
- Heavily driver dependent
- How it seems to make people smile
- Did I mention the noise it makes?
Basically it’s an ideal occasional/weekend car that is still very practical (four seats and a boot big enough for shopping). Whilst it’s in a completely different category I suppose I should try and compare it to the BMW; The BM is a great car, fast, comfortable, handles great, and fully loaded with all the gadgets and gizmos you could want but I think compared the to the Mustang that’s its downfall (if you can call it that).
The BMW made everything so easy (driving fast, tight cornering etc) to the point where you could almost sit back and let the car drive itself, whereas the Mustang demands your attention, you are controlling it rather than it taking you for a ride (and surprisingly the LHD aids this rewarding feeling).
Yes you could probably get yourself into a mess if you pushed it hard and lost concentration but to me that’s part of the fun, it’s a driver’s car which after driving you feel that you have been doing something rather than sat in chair whilst going from A to B listening to the radio.
At slow speeds the car is a comfortable cruiser which is very enjoyable to drive but it’s when you open up the throttle and hear that fantastic V8 sound that really gets you every time.
I suppose time will tell but at this point I’m very much pleased with my decision to get this car and can see it keeping a silly grin on my face for some time to come.
