New car (That doesnt cost 25k)

I own an R53 Cooper S, I can vouch for the 'Fun Factor' but at the same time I think most of motors will agree i'm pretty much the biggest (New) Mini fanboi here.
The Supercharger is hillarious (
) now that is from a JCW Convertable and toward the end the noise is a bit un-bearable but I think you get the idea..
As for modifications, a lot of my freinds start with simple stuff, Strut Braces, Cat Back Exhausts, Manifolds and the very much needed Charge Pulley Reduction (available at 15% and 17%, I think theres a 19% but that's only for track cars) and along with that it's always advised to owners that you upgrade your intercooling too (So along of GRS / Alta)

Is a fantastic little car, the supercharger is nowhere near as annoying as the video above, and it pulls extremely well. The ride is extremely hard though, that's the only problem. It doesn't help she has runflats on it though to be fair

Olly, I just fancy something a shade more practical for day to day. Granted it's not often but the s2000 does sometimes have a compromise too far. That and generally I just fancy a change.
In regards to noise and ride you havnt been in my s2000. It's running polybushes, harder springs, 32/30mm thick anti roll bars, full chassis bracing and an open induction cone on a 9000 rpm engine with a soft top. I know it's nothing to go by for accuracy, but my iPhone sound meter goes off the chart (106db) at vtec changeover and is solidly over 100db at 70mph even in 6th.
I'm taking out an r53 jcw cooper s tomorrow with '210 bhp' at the local mini garage. Based on the fact it's nearly 100 kilos lighter than my s2k I'm hoping it's not that much slower in the dash. I'll see what I think and go from there.

But you live in Central London, a short walk from the city centre and you live alone - why do you need a practical car?
How did you manage to get that booked in the middle of Christmas, they've been shut since the 24th
TBH you could turn the engine off at 70 and it'd still be at 100dB, that's just wind noise

Yeah, if I was going for a hatch I'd be going straight for a Mk5 Golf GTI - great cars.
If my budget was lower, a Clio 182. Won't feel very grown up in terms of road noise, etc though.

Took out the JCW Mini this morning.
It was ok. Power seemed fine, but the car seemed to be really struggling to put it down, felt quicker than it actually was, but yeah, I can see why people would buy them.
Not being 110% convinced we drove down towards some other car garages and I saw a Golf GTi at the Lexus Garage they had taken in part ex. Its a 56 plate with 74k Miles. Black with Sat Nav and cloth seating with dual zone climate (no idea if thats standard).
Drove really well and felt a fantastic little car. No real lag with the turbo that I could notice, and handling seemed as you would expect. Genuinely felt like it was a nice car to step into with a decent kit level.
It seems to be priced 'ok' but obviously its down to price to change. I'm running some numbers at the moment and giving it serious consideration. Is there anything key to consider or look into with these cars before I end up going back for a second look?
