Very Very nice Toby, how does it compare to your last, those seats look fantastic.
The seats are fundamentally the same sports ones I had in the last car, although in the last one I specced leather/alcantara but that option wasn't available with this one so the centre sections are "speed cloth", whatever that is.
i assume its full euro mapping not just major roads?
Yep full European mapping using a dual-layer DVD.

Tbh, for £2175, I'd expect mapping of extra-terrestial territories
It is a ripoff, there's no denying that, especially when you can get it retrofitted for a grand or less.

The "value" of it is definitely enhanced by the phone system IMO as this integrates with it so well but that's extra cost. You should really get the phone kit for free in the £2175, that would make it look much better value.

If you total it all up, the whole "entertainment & comms" package I have (i.e. Nav+MP3+Bose+Phone+Wheel) comes out at £3160

Nice looking car, absolutely stunning alloys, awesome looking navigation/audio system, brilliant seats, meh engine, and doh@black :p

Toby, so it the car phone bluetooth to your handset or do you have to insert the sim into the car?
It's bluetooth although there is a cradle in the centre armrest which charges the handset and connects it to the roof aerial.

The kit loads the entire phonebook and all the call lists (received, dialled & missed) from the phone into the car, you can then scroll through your phone book on the main screen or dash display to find a number to dial, assign voice tags and use those or even just read the numbers out to the voice recognition system.

Gorgeous. Nice one mate. :D

Those alloys look superb.

And :o at the Multimedia. How long before you can browse the Internet on them as well? Let me guess, it's already been done? :p

Looks nice mate. You made a good choice with the brished alloy trim as our piano blacktrim has started to scratch its so soft. Deffinately prefer the Lava grey to black though ;).

I was very tempted by the Lava Grey but ended up sticking with black, although I went with the Phantom Black rather than the base Brilliant Black to help hide the inevitable swirls and scratches a bit better.

BTW, I've posted about the phone cradle over on the audi-sport forum if you're interested :)

Don't most OAPs end up back in little hatchbacks though? Thought I'd just skip the middle bit and stay in one forever tbh :p
You could have got a poverty spec 335i for the same money!

I, personally, would have got the 2.0T FSI, as I'm not a fan of the 2.0 TDI engine. Was it personal choice, or what I imagine it being - fuel/money reasons?

Err, leaving aside the horrendous tax implications of such a car and the fact that the new 3 series mings heavily, the 335i starts at £30k.

I did look at the 2.0T but it would have cost me another £100 a month in fuel and tax. Many on here will no doubt say "bargain!" but personally I couldn't justify the extra outlay. I'm obviously just getting old :)
