Hi guys,

You might remember i was looking for a fast car for around 7 - 8k to have some fun with, well i decided to ignore my brain that told me to buy a cupra R and go and buy another mk2 golf! even saved myself a couple of grand in the process which will no doubt be spent on this car in the future anyway lol.

I would class it as mentally fast.

heres the current specs:
AMK 1.8 20v turbo
GT28 BB Turbo
Switchable boost 250 - 320hp
Quaife Diff
Willwood 6 Pot brakes
5 Stud VR6 hub conversion
Custom 3" exhaust system
Polybushes all round
Leda adjustable suspension
Image 16" split rims.

I have been running it on low boost since i got it and can honestly say its crazy on that let alone high. it just pushes you back into the seat.

Plans: going to sort out the interior as its got standard gti seats and replace them with some rallye or ed1 recaros. I picked it up yesterday and the grin on my face fromt he way home is still there.

( Im aware of the fact this will seriously damage my wallet)

Looks wicked fella, I love Mk 2's!! Not sure if the alloys suit it though.. Some BBS RM's would look spot on...

If they had air con, I would definitely go out and buy another one.

Mental mate, totally bonkers. Stuff having something conventional, you might as well enjoy your life. That or a Cupra R? No brainer. The Mk2 is more noticeable, no longer a boggo run-of-the-mill looking car and won't drop thousands of pounds a year.

That is true however im sure those thousands will be spent in other ways!

Nice, looking good. So this is just a "fun" car for blasts and not a daily driver?.

If that is the case then good call over a Cupra.

Oak Green was never my favourite Mk2 colour, but having driven Llyr's Mk2 1.8T I know how well they go with this conversion. Would I take it over an LCR? Absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt. But then I'm not really into modern cars.

The Images look good too.

To buy an engine etc and get it fitted by someone decent used to cost 5k.

mk2 20v turbos for 5k is the norm price, and I think well worth it.

Would have to be a corrado if I went back though...maybe one day.

Great Purchase fella, I hope it brings much happiness.

It's very impressive indeed from a power point of view, but I'm finding it hard to get passed the fact that you paid £5k for a MK2 Golf with some shiny bits under the bonnet. It absolutely not my sort of car I know, and I'm not (well trying) judging it from that point of view, impressive but ....I dunno, £5k for that ...seems a bit OTT to me, still, it's a very niche vehicle I suppose and if that's what you like and what you want then I guess that's all good.

I wouldn't bat an eyelid at spending £5k on some old American Muscle car or an older luxuary barge, totally different tastes though I suppose.

I can understand that point of view completely, i guess it just comes down to individual tastes.
The problem you face with mk1s and mk2s these days is the price keeps on rising, a decent standard 16v in good condition is fetching 2 - 3 grand still.
