I maybe just be being picky, but my new card has glue all over it and little bits of red fabric? It also has Oil with fingerprints on it at the back where the hdmi socket is.

Ive taken pics;

The box also came a little less better wrapped then the first card, only 1 layer of bubble wrap?

However the inside was sealed both antistatic bag although only tape and the power adpaater was sealed inside a bag.

The card has had no problems at boot up this time but it does have higher idle temps which is weird?

Anyways im going to go test the card now, maybe the glue was from the manufacturer i dunno but the first one came really clean.

Its a bit hotter then the last card and takes longer to cool down. Last card idle 24c this one is idle 27c and doesnt cooldown to 27c after i close games very fast the last card was 24c by the time i closed game and checked temps.

There is still massive artifacting in skyrim however. None on desktop and no dodgy boot up so maybe skyrim is like this for this card? I dont understand why its effecting me and not other people though.

Heres a vid;

Just had a look at them pics it hard to make out the glue, and red stuff sorry i must have went too close with cam lol.

The hotter could be down to TIM not being applied the same as the last one or ambient temps. Not hot by any standard. As for Skyrim, I have no idea. It always looked good on my computer.

Well 27 is only few more C so its doable.

Yeah i dunno what the hell is wrong with it, the GTX 285 never had nothing like this, maybe its an AMD thing but ive read other users play fine?

EDIT - Well its now at 29C idle thats 5C up on idle id say thats a big step?

The card seems alk over the place and im not even play games?

It would not be the same one. I am going to note this to a Rep at Gigabyte so they can look into this for you from their side. :)

Cards sitting at 30C idle now! Bit hot id think that's 5C increase its nearly reaching 60C on games. Im not very happy, specially since skyrims still screwed! Maybe send back and get an msi card

As the temp outside rises, the fans will be pushing slightly warmer air on the card, this in turn will mean temps are higher. My water cooled system idled at 43C first thing this morning, is is now at 47C as the room has warmed up. I wouldn't worry about the temps. Others need to confirm about Skyrim.

+1

I'm confused... I thought this thread had gone off topic into another 3-4 page argument

Also,, anything below 80 degrees is fine, 60 is pretty good

I know 60c is doable but not if the first card only reached 52c and 24c idle. Ive got a cooler master cosmos s case so it has really good air flow. My 285 only reached 65-70c max and that is a way hotter card and used 2x 6 pins so i think 60c is high comparing.

The main thing is skyrim however. On boot up my desktop is black for a while also it seems to refresh the card or something ill make a YouTube clip to show as its hard to explain.

Really annoying me how i can't just plug it in and be happy!

Thats the risk you take i doubt you would have got the same idle and load temps on the 2 cards:eek:(

It must be the same card or ive got 2x faulty cards!

Ive tried different drivers still the same thing happens, its now artifacting on desktop and screen blinking again!

I cant believe i have to send another card back at my expense!!
