New Cargo Pants

My old textiles used to take a year to put on and take off but my new Hein Gericke ones seem to slip on over my work trousers so easily without the thermal liner that I'm happy to wear them everyday.

I have a pair of Bulletproof kevlar jeans but I'm not sure I really like them plus I need to buy armour for them and while it's hot when I go to work it's often kinda cold on my journey home in the morning and I'm always worried about rain so I think I might stick to textiles.

I'm still not sold on kevlar kit, myself.
Most of the jeans will be shredded and useless after one off, but tests suggest that leather is still the better material for abraision resistance.

But worse still, it seems the manufacturers make their measurements before they put the kevlar in, as every brand I've tried has either sat too low on the waist or threatened to split me up the middle!!
Seriously, what is with that...?

I'm sometimes tempted to try the kevlar 'chino' types for wearing to the office, still...

well mine surived a motorway off without even wearing though the outer layer didnt even make it to the klevlar.

I went to a chap about 3 weeks ago who had come off at 40 and slid about 30 feet down the road on his side. He was wearing a pair of cheap kevlar lined jeans and the denim was scuffed but intact and he had no abrasions whatsoever. I wear the same type of jeans and have thankfully never tested them, so was happy to see them standing up so well to a reasonable speed accident.

I wear my textiles over my normal jeans for my 45mins commute, find it comfortable and fine. Also got some waterproofs that go over them when it's proper raining (often in Manchester).

I change my t-shirt when I get to the office, don't really have to but do.

No dress code for me so easy, can't remember the last time I ironed anything either :p

Do you not get warm?

When I rode in just normal textile kit I'd be boiling by the time I got to the office even when it was quite cool, my Hood and RST jeans are much better unless I end up sitting around the house in them when I get home then they can start to get a bit toasty.

Mmmm testicle soup :D
Nah, they're pretty cool... having aircon helps, though!

I'm sure there are plenty of people who've found them fine.
I've personally come off at 40 in just cotton work trousers and walked away without a scuff, although the trews did have a hole worn through...
There are exceptions everywhere.

But in most controlled tests, the jeans do end up being sacrificed and the kevlar still doesn't hold up as well as leather, else I assume pro racers would all be wearing it instead of leather Power Ranger gear.

There certainly is a good chance I'd be fine... but there's also the chance I'd not and the other option is one already proven over decades. Things will probably change in time.
Just personal choice, really, but despite the heat/cold/wet/weight/restriction and other drawbacks of wearing leather, I still trust it more than kevlar.

Unless the bike pins your leg there's not a massive amount of weight pressing down on your legs.

its mostly hips ads shoulders/upper body that gets ground in deep legs kinda just bounce along

Not really no as it's just my legs. I ride with just a t-shirt and no lining in my jacket.

I don't like not wearing jeans underneath to be honest as my textiles have a lining in them which makes it feel sweaty and sticky. Having the jeans between is nicer.

Plus its quicker getting changed too and I don't need to cart around a pair of jeans. I already carry a laptop, waterproofs among other bits in my bag (all in a topbox).

Took delivery of the new pants last night and now sat in work in them.
I must admit the 40" waist is a bit big but tbh the legs are right and I only have chicken legs.
The knee pads seem to sit a bit higher than I would expect but other than that they seem fine.
Hopefully I'll never know how they stand up to an off.

Can you not adjust the armor at the knees? Most allow you a little bit of adjustment.
