new case help please :D

ok the number it shows SOMETIMES is 0x0000008E

and something about nv4_disp.dll and sometimes it is win32 or something like that.

I did the torture test and it had a fatal error without even a minute going by hehe.

Ahh ok, the RAM i have is crucial ballistix and not sure of the pc- part... i really cant remember all the details about it hehe. Does this mean I need to replace the RAM? :/

Ballistix!

Goes wrong all the time, have a bit of a reputation as far as I know, if its still under warranty try and get some new sticks, if your not running overclocked?

Really does sound like ram the more you say, the errors and brand are there to cause you trouble.

Ha lol, thats prob it. Try memtest 86. You will need to boot from a floppy. Leave it running for a few hours and if u get errors get onto crucial and they will replace it.

Nope not overclocked, I suppose if this is the problem its good news aswell, how much RAM is recommended these days, 1GB still? I use the PC for high end games and basic internet browsing. And is there any nice reliable ones :D

Edit: i couldnt seem to get that Memtest to work, and also couldnt find a floppy disk around here, all CDs now hehe. If they are known for causing trouble I think its better to just replace them with a different brand maybe.

2gb is the norm, and you probably wont need to leave it running for hours before it shows errors either. ;)

Try that, and I have a sinking feeling it will show errors somehow.

2gb is the norm, I usually spend my money on Corsair memory as it just works, especially if you are not overclocking, should see a nice boost in games too.

Just check with memtest first. Although I think it will be erroring within 30 minutes. ;)

/You can just replace, they are known to go wrong easily, get onto crucial and get some new sticks then sell them to make some money back, in some rigs Ballistix is great.

I know the Corsair XMS 3200cpt stuff pairs up nicely at stock with a FX55, as I have done so myself. :)

my PC doesnt seem to like trying to run Memtest, it freezes up when it goes the command prompt part, is there any others for testing memory?

Thats a giveaway too.

Have you no other ram to try your PC with?

If its a dual channel kit you could try one stick at a time aswell to see if it stops the crashing.

Ok, taken one of the sticks of RAM out, ran the Prime95 torture test and it runs perfectly fine... cant believe how slow my PC is with only 512 RAM hehe.

So this means im buying new RAM ?

That is what I personally use in all the rigs I have made since the end of 2002, have used 256mb, 512mb and 1gb sticks of it, and in most builds I do for people and has been faultless, not the most amazing overclocking ram there is but it is usually rock stable even under silly temperatures. :)

Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-079-CS)

Im calling it a night, wont reply until around 3 tommorrow. :)

Drop me a email if you need anything responded to slightly faster. :)

Then i will go for that, thanks man you have been a great help... now lets hope I dont get another faulty stick hehe

Thanks again
