New Chrome Interface, i hates it!

Indeed, but that's no reason to jump on people who don't like something AND provide a fix for others that don't.

Repeatedly saying "I'm struggling to see what the issue is" isn't really any help is it to anyone, is it?

My comment was based on the opening post, in that the op was complaining and saying how much he hated it, from what I could see in the image, the change was incredibly minor, hence my comments and further qualification later asking if it's more than just what's shown in the OP, or if that's the entirety of the change.

You carried on saying you couldn't see the issue, even after my first post highlighting that it had also mucked up my bookmarks bar.

Plus, to have a list that only took half the screen height before, to then go to filling the whole screen with extra spacing as one of my bookmarks tabs did is a fairly noticeable change, and completely unnecessary. Unless you have a touch display, it's pointless and irritating.

Theres also an option to launch in Windows 8 mode. Legitimate question here, But whats the point?

I'm actually one of the people who like Windows 8, But dont see the use of this?

Can you be more specific about the fix?

What are 'properties' of the chrome shortcut? Do you mean just adding a space to the end of the URL?

If so.. I've done that, change the setting and it still doesn't work :-(

I've also tried adding a space, and putting the extra bit of the url in (--disable new style etc ..) and it doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

Open Chrome and 'Pin it' to your taskbar.
Close Chrome.
Hold Shift and Right Click the Chrome icon on your taskbar.
Select Properties.
In the box that says Target: You will probably see
Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe"

Change it to

Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-new-menu-style
Click Ok.
Launch Chrome from the taskbar.

You think that is the worst part of the new chrome updates?

This is by far the worst.

Why do I need another search bar with Google written above it when my address bar does exactly that. Much preferred having the 8 previews of most visited sites!

Other than the rather obvious answer of a Google Search box, what is that? I've still got my 8 most used sites, or the little 'apps' buttons, depending one which view I want. :\

It is the page you get when you open new tabs. I use the dev versions so this isn't in stable releases yet.

Version 28.0.1464.0 dev-m one I'm using.

Thanks for the fix. On a desktop the bookmarks were taking up way too much real estate. :)

Well, coming back to my thread it's nice to see that i'm not the only one that is perturbed by this change. In fact the Google Help Forums are still being flooded with complaints:

http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!categories/chrome/windows

For those of us using the fix, it might not be immediately obvious if Google reverse their decision and revert Chrome to it's former state. If anybody notices that this has indeed happened, can they post that here so that we can reverse the changes we have made?
