New Computer (Gaming)

Just want to pick up on you saying the two SSD's you wanted... 1TB is NOT a big SSD. You will run our of space in no time flat if your wanting it to store games on. I would recommend you getting at least a 3t 6Gb/s HDD and getting a smaller 60gb cache drive for your games drive D: and a decent sized 6 Gb/s SSD for your C: drive. Sorted!

Games are like 8GB max with exceptions to others like BF3, I don't see why you'd need to have 100 games installed at one time?

1TB is way overkill, when you can install everything you need on a 256GB SSD and still have space, it would be silly to install so many games at once.

+1

That's how i manage mine! Works fine.

Dual 7970's is greater than just one Gtx 780? Just I'm wanting this computer to last me a solid 4/5 years atleast before I even have to think about upgrading a single piece so wanting to range stuff.
Yep. Much better. It's like about 1.7 times a gtx 780. A single 7970 Matrix Platinum is quite close to as good as a single 780, for substantially cheaper which is why people say the 780s are bad value. Great cards, but overpriced unfortunately (Not as overpriced as a Titan though!)

To explain my choices in SSD's - Small one for windows/key programs, big SSD for games. And I'm gonna use my HD from this computer for junk (Music/Movies/Silly files and what not).
You can, of course, do whatever you wish. I'd probably just go with one decent sized SSD (~256GB to ~512 GB) for Windows & games, keeping your idea of old normal drive for junk as you put it :)

I like it, Dont like the case however and may change the hard drives.

I see what your getting at for the SSDs, but why limit yourself with the potential too have not enough space when you could have ample with2x250/256gb SSDs?

How Will I not have enough space? 120gb SSD/1TB SSD/500GB HD in one pc? Sounds like plenty even though my games alone take up atleast 500GB :D

So dual 7970's it will be I guess if I dont go for dual Gtx 780's.

Anyone else got any ideas for builds?

SSD sorry, to a bigger one and a smaller one :p

Im still not sure thats the best idea... Spending nearly £600 on SSD's when for half that you can get 500GB of SSD space which will be a good 50%+ quicker? And then additional 2-3TB hard drive for the rest of the junk. :)

and a nice £200 saved..

I think thats a better idea.

Well is there any way I could get like a really small SSD for Windows/Main files then one 500GB for games ? Dont wanna split my games over 2SSDs haha

Their is no good reason not to split them, you are getting some quality advice here, I would listen to it. get ~256gb ssd and a 3tb drive. 256 tb is enough for Windows 8, all productivity software (office etc) and 100gb of games, with 50gb left spare. Put your documents, music, videos and games you dont access often on the hard drive.

p.s. I'd also go 16gb ram and run a 4gb ram drive. Put firefox cache and a 2gb swap file on their.

Yes tere is but im saying its not ideal..

The way its works in my setup SSD and HDD is the executable will be installed to your SSD and the bulk of the install is on your HDD.. So the game loads up quickly without need for a lot of space.

Lets say its a 10GB install, 9.7GB of that is on my HDD and 0.3GB on the SSD. And thats 300 games fully installed and only using 90GB off sSD space and 3TB of HDD space..

That cost a fraction of the price..

Why does it matter being split over two? It'll all load from the same pace anyway..

hmm

i'll toy about with the build again tonight and link you guys to a knew one!

Your going backwards mate, the advise you've been given is sound and your not taking it. Since your not buying till October, this is slightly pointless.

There is also a whole host of issues with that build!

I'm done!!

Before you buy that basket, get your post count to 1000, I fancy buying some of that second hand stuff when you realise you've ballsed up the build list...

Finee finee, I'll stop messing around.

I guess I'll go for this one then, only problems are I dont really like this case (Can anyone think of a possible change of case) and it doesnt have a Soundcard (Would it be able to fit one?) Also is it possible to change to blue rather than green:D

In regards to selling 2nd hand parts, once I get this I'll have a lot to sell from this pc, too bad I cant sell them on here:(

Haha! that made me laugh.. Atleast we have a nice framework to work off now..

So you want "the Big Green machine" to be the "Non-so big Blue and Black Machine"? :D

Ill get on it. :)
