*UPDATE*

OK so i contacted OCuK and told them about what i did to see if it was the PSU(see above^) and they sent RMA number. However if it turns out to be faulty do i get my money back for shipping? Also on the OCuK website where it explains returning items it says

"Returned items must be packaged properly and shipped in a plain outer box. Please try to include all internal packaging, cables, manuals, drivers and protective bags, however small."

Now i have the internal packing but not the external packing and will any plain box do? i took some pictures of condition its all in, will this be good enough to get a replacement?

Hi whitescar,

If it is faulty just make sure you save the receipt for the shipping so we can refund this for you. - What you have at the moment is great, if you can pack that into another box so it is safe, and then on the outer box put the RMA number on. That will be fine. As long the RMA number is visible on the outside of the packaging and the product are safe for transit you will be fine. :)

I've always used Asus boards for their reliability, though recently I've been hearing more and more problems with them.

I don't know if it's just because they are the biggest sellers of boards so more of them will fail, or because you only hear people on forums complaining about a product, rarely do you see praise in comparison - or it could be a combination of both.

It's hard to tell if they are actually going downhill.

Well, I bought a P8-Z68LX (system in sig below), this was my first proper ground-up build, and everything went without a hitch and worked perfectly first time!*
Compared to my old Mesh Athlon 64x2 6000+ system, which refused to boot for a week every time I changed a setting- proper sickly child of a PC...
I would be inclined to agree with reddev- you only ever hear about problems!
My new rig is a dream to use- I hope yours will be soon. OCUK, I have no doubt, will help you sort all this out and get you up and running again. Bear in mind that this stuff is at the cutting edge- there are bound to be issues now and again.

*This isn't a boast- I realise I've probably been quite fortunate...
Jon.
