** New Console Products and Pre-Orders **

Yup, in fact the games in the OP aren't that badly priced. I only looked on the rainforest and they were a couple of quid cheaper at best, which is evened out by the fact that most of us get free next day delivery anyway. Halo Reach is a bit pricey though, you can get that £10-£15 new at most places so that's a bit disappointing. I'd definitely consider ordering with OcUK in the future if they can keep these new releases within £2-£3 of other stores.

that's what I'm trying to do. whilst some of our older stock may be a bit highly priced, anything I am buying will be as aggressively priced as I can make it.

I understood that totally. and I can see why.
The Consoles & Games section at OcUK is now my group. just to be 100% clear.

I am a PC and Console gamer myself and have been a long-standing member of the games forum communities even before I worked for OcUK.
I'm here to help out and contribute. Part of my job is to advertise our deals :)

That's good and I'll wish you luck with it. I do feel you've got a hard job though to compete with some of the big boys.

Also happy that something actually happened due to the recent events even though i've not seen it mentioned anywhere else in the forum :)

Actually thinking about it, where has your predecessor been moved to?

if your using chrome as your browser there is an extension called invisible hand.

basically if i look at a game on a competitors website, it automatically googles the game, finds the cheapest website and then offers me a link to them.

it all works behind the scenes too, so i know im always getting the best deal, it works on everything too, tv's, books. dvd's, etc.

you may want to use it just to see exactly where your pricing is within the market.

that is not a matter for me to discuss unfortunately.
however, I appreciate your sentiments :)

thanks for the tip, looking into that now

It's pretty obvious they aren't trying to put the big names out of business and if you can't understand that then you're beyond mad. To be a competitor you have to be competitive with them, OcUK are nowhere near competitive in their games/console pricing, it's a computer hardware shop that happens to sell a few games and consoles. To be fair to OcUK the whole "they only sell games so we can't mention other shops" is a load of rubbish. In fact I'm pretty sure it was either Thundycat or Gibbo who said recently that we can talk about the others but don't directly link to a game that OcUK also sell. I really don't see the problem here.
Do I need to say that me selling games on the MM, does not make me a shop, nor does it mean I am directly competing with Play/Amazon/HMV. ;)

ps3ud0

Considering there's free delivery (i assume), i would gladly pre-order from OcUK if i hear good reports of getting them delivered on time ( early would be ++ ;) ) considering the horror stories coming out of <stores i can't name because they are now competitor?>

What will your philosophy be on posting games out? Are you going to be posting them out as soon as you get them delivered to guarantee receipt for release day? Or will you be sending them the day before the scheduled release date and hope they make it in time?

The 2 e-tailers I usually use for game purchases send them out earlier, 1 usually arrives the day of release, sometimes one day earlier, whereas the other usually always arrives 2 days early, on the odd occasion it has arrived 3-days earlier.

I think this could also persuade more people to purchase.

lol most games will sell for at least a clear £10 profit when brand new maybe even more from competitors.

remember when supermarkets were selling fifa 10 for £25 when online stores used to sell it at £30-£35 and console stores at £40.

asda was most likely making zero profit on those and that was a launch game, they were hoping people would buy other stuff when they came into the store, then they caught on that nobody buys anything else and pushed the price back up for fifa 11.

i reckon on launch games cost £20-£25 to the retailer but COD costs £30 as they know it will sell regardless.

First off my figures are to prove a point not be take literally. They show how you don't need to sell lots when you can sell a few at a clearly bigger profit margin.

Regarding profit margins themselves I wouldn't have thought they'd be as high as you think. I'd estimate that you would be looking at a £5 to £10 margin. By estimate I mean I googled it. IE wholesale £30, retailers sell for 40 or 35.

So OcUK can sell it for 40 and just sell less, they can also keep this high price point and extend the profit margin as the game drops in value.
