new cpu, motherboard & RAM?

Just go for a 4690k. There's not much in it between that and the 6600k and it will still last you for a good few years. Even better, keep checking our Members Market and pick up a bargain deal.

I know there isn't much difference but the 6600k with that second bundle doesn't cost much more than the 4690k setup and I will be keeping this for at least 4/5 years so it will be a bit more future proofed than DC.

Will keep an eye on the MM for any bargains though.

If you can find me one for <£450, sure :p :D

Starting to think would an i7 4790k be the better option over i5 6600k???

EDIT:

Taking into account dx 12 games.

EDIT:

Nah going to stick with socket 1151, more future proofed for future CPUs should I ever need more power.

Even a sandy/ivy would be a good stepup, not much behind the latest hardware

I don't struggle with anything atm

The route I decided on. Managed to pick up a 5820k, mobo, 16gb of ram and a 128gb m2 pcie ssd for £400.00. Recouped a fair chunk of that by selling on my 4790k setup.

An epic bargain you got there

I would like to go x99 but I can't justify the extra cost as I am 95% sure that I'll never go with 2+ GPU's and apart from gaming my pc doesn't really get used for much else. I would like to go with 2+ GPU's but I cba with the extra heat (especially with 290s), annoying niggles where games don't scale well, micro stuttering, flickering textures etc. At least these generally seem to be issues for the first week or so with brand new games.

Yeah still a good setup those especially when OC but in 2/3 years time, I can't see them keeping up with skylake as well.

I found a decent video comparing i5 chips at stock clocks:

EDIT:

And an i5 6600k stock/OC VS i7 4790k stock

You can link all the videos under the sun, you can link every benchmark under the sun.

We can link and spec every bundle and combo under the sun.

You need to pick something and be happy with the fact that in 6 months it will be old lol

It all depends what you can pick up for the money

A 2600k or a 3770k is still a very capable chip,I plat GTA v fine with an oldish 7970 and CPU at 4.8ghz

lol I know, I still feel a bit burnt with my 290 purchase with the 970 coming out not long after for more or less the same price + the 290 then getting a massive reduction (I bought mine for £300 and gibbo then started those deals for £220-240....... which had an additional 2 games and a better AMD game bundle making the 290 essentially £180!)

Just 2 last things before I order.

Are there any other better motherboards around £100 than that gigabyte gaming 5 one? Not by asus.

Reading that some boards have m.2 speeds limited, is the gaming 5 board limited at all?

I believe its a proper 4xPCI-E3.0 for 32GB/s

Little update,

I have decided to go with an i7 based system now, more future proofed especially with dx 12 and there doesn't seem like there will be any decent deals on i7 SL or x99 so now looking at i7 DC...

So which MB will be best bang per buck? Again, rather stick to gigabyte.

So i7 Skylake is silly when you can get X99 for basically the same money.

Black friday and cyber monday soon so wait to see what pops up.
