So my desk has fell apart (ikea) the desk top has spilt all around the edges due to having arm rests attached, i could reglue the edge back on, but im sure it will fall back off

tempted to just buy a new desk top around 2M by 60cm

any good suggestions for places to look at?

Looking for somthing solid, happily go full wood if needed

I always go for used office desks from larger companies that are maybe closing or downsizing

my ikea corner desk edge trim was coming off at the corner, it's been moved from location to location too many times and I kept catching it. That's the side I hang my head phones from and swing my chair towards when getting out.

I just used some gorilla wood glue for £7 pounds and taped it down for a day just to hold it while the glue takes... it's good as new.

Get a solid wood kitchen worktop. We did that for gf's desk about 3 years ago, iirc was £120 for 2x0.6m from ebay
100% this.

I've got a 200cm x 90cm x 40mm kitchen worktop with two sets of Ikea drawers underneath it. Absolutely rock solid. Loads of space. Decent amount of depth. I attached 3 legs to the back of it for additional stability.

was thinking this but i got bunch of dents in the desk thats gone through the top too where i dropped a monitor

Snap! Mine still needs staining as I ran out of time to get the room completely finished for christmas.

I used battens on the wall to support it instead of legs, as I wanted to keep the space underneath as free of obstruction as possible.

I need to make a new desk, at the moment im using a pretty good condition black ratten garden table which has a glass top. Some may thing ehh, but its not too bad. Although i want to swap for hardwood,

I very rarely use my desk though at home.

Another vote here for worktop express. We have 2 in our house on ikea drawers. Both 1.9m by 75 I think. Very solid and look great.

I use a thick solid wood kitchen worktop sat on two IKEA pedestal drawers. Works great and looks good.

Better than any actual desk you can buy for the same price.

Awesome.

@smogsy - The difference between the above desk and mine, is 60cm depth or 90cm. You just pick which you'd prefer. Mine overhangs the drawers at the back (hence I've fitted 3 legs, one visible in the centre, and two hidden behind the drawers. Gravymonstewrs is 60cm, so fits the drawers better, and takes up less space but you can see I've got more space in front of the monitors.

Yep, mine's 60cm deep. There's a radiator to the right which would block it from being any deeper, and I thought it'd look a bit janky cutting out around it. I could have raised the desk up using legs on the cabinets, but then I think it'd be too high and make it uncomfortable to sit at.

In any case, 60cm still gives plenty of workspace.

Yeah 60cm is more than enough for most setups, I find the height of the IKEA drawers to be perfect as well. So I just paired it with adjustable legs and set them to the height of the drawers. I'd have gone wider but the wall the desk is against sticks out at one end which is annoying. Other than that I'm really happy with it.
