The house needs some new plates to replace the current 15+ year old set which are the originals that were bought for the first house.

I quite like the Le Creuset Coupe range and the plan is to get

4 x Dinner
4 x Side
4 x Cereal Bowl
4 x Pasta Bowl
4 x Mugs

Here's the issue - Can't decide on the colour between Meringue and Sea Salt (Pink and Flint have been ruled out)

Meringue is top right and Sea Salt is bottom right below (sea salt looks darker in bottom pic)

The sensible choice would be Meringue but keep looking at Sea Salt

What say OcUK when it comes to coloured crockery to begin with (stick to white) and what are your thoughts on the colours of the Coupe range?

How much? Damn.

Prefer the second option though.

Yeah that's why I want to throw it out there... A bit of money but these should be good plates that won't need replaced again (unless I drop them)

I'm not a brand snob but I don't mind spending a little bit to get good quality stuff that will last.

White.

But get Villeroy and Boch.

No idea why people buy expensive gear from brands made famous because of other gear.

The price on that site isn't what I would be paying (£324 for 16pcs)

They have a 4 for 3 offer on albeit it's the cheapest items you get free... I worked out that 3 separate orders would get the 20pcs for £286 delivered (bundle the same priced items together to maximise discount)

Appreciate the views on colour :D

You know they are famous for making cast iron right?

4 x Cereal Bowl
design is not very good - with a broad base you end up pouring in lots more milk than you need, to get an acceptable depth at the edge to dip spoon, versus more bowl shaped
- check out Denby elements black bowls and the larger rimmed bowl for puddings. (theyr'e just black outside and white inside)

I like a big dinner plate - If children aren't a concern, or putting them in dishwasher , then a set of 32cm plates are nice for dinner (like guy degrenne /Limoges)

I had a look and V&B after you mentioned it but they are quite a bit out of my price range. 4 decent plates are the same as the full LC set

I do. Do you think their crockery are poor quality? I did have a look at a few reviews which are all positive.

Are you mixing up the wider Pasta bowls with the deeper cereal bowls?

I'm not sure I like black. Screams of sad bachelor vibes

Although I do like a big plate, being a greedy sod, it causes issues with dishwasher and microwaves :(

They're probably fine quality but it's like buying Barber shoes. They are renowned for wax jackets.

Have you tried the local potteries? Denby normally has outlet shops at all the usual MacArthur Glenn type outlets.

I get why Le Creuset pans are expensive as they're bombproof and will last hundred of years if looked after.

Dinnerware  Someone is going to drop one, chip one, scratch one because surely they're just made like normal plates and bowls?

Seems crazy to spend so much money on something like that when stuff just as good can be had for a quarter of the price.

This is from a guy who has a 4090 :p
