New Discovery

No. They've introduced a four cylinder twin turbo for the first time. But there will still be the 3.0 diesel V6 (and possibly a supercharged petrol V6, probably only in other markets like the US).

Did you actually read the article? Obviously not.

Twin turbo 4-pot. And a charged V6 in both petrol and diesel varieties. I assume the V6 diesel will be similar to the twin turbo V6 in the current range. And doesn't look hugely less efficient than the 2.0 tdi. As you'd expect with such a weight.

The four-pot Discovery will be the cleanest model in the line-up at launch - although it seems inconceivable that the car won’t benefit from some of JLR’s extensive work on plug-in hybrid technology during its lifetime. Badged SD4 and paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, the 2.0-litre model will have 237bhp and 500Nm of torque - enough for a 0-60mph time of 8.0 seconds - but return 43.5mpg and 171g/km of CO2 emissions.

...

The other two engines in the UK market will be a pair of 3.0-litre V6s - a diesel called TD6, with 255bhp/600Nm, and a supercharged Si6 petrol with 335bhp and 450Nm. The more potent diesel beats its smaller brother to 60mph (7.7 seconds) and gets close on efficiency, with fuel consumption of 39.2mpg and 189g/km of CO2 emissions.

Doesn't help that the photo is a pretty poor photoshop as well :/. Look at the alloys and where the wheels meet the ground; that can't be from a real photo.

To be fair I've not really much experience of big 4x4 vehicles as they have never really floated my boat, but friends who have them rave about them, talk about them as if they are the best all round car in the world. I just find them too big and ungainly and a nice S Class or 7 Series is more suited to a use profile I would have. I don't need to be high up, or go off road really, so a lower down and tighter driver would be more me.

Gorgeous to behold though.

Ah, just clocked you were talking about the full size Range Rover, not the Sport. The Sport is very nice to behold too but much more nimble and not wafty like the bigger car.

Yea. My dad had a couple of the older Sports and loved them, but the big RR is like driving an ocean liner. Great until you want to turn it, stop it or push on in it.

The image above is the one with Dynamic pack - heres a better image:

Indeed, especially the Dynamic with the active roll control (hydraulics anti roll bars) - look out the the SPORT badge in red.

Don't like the look of that. But then I drive a 300tdi d1.
Like the combination of the v6 diesel and 8 speed auto, but I bet the rest of it will cost the moon to fix when it goes wrong. Which it will. A lot.

Who thinks up these colours? I don't care what anyone says, that's brown. People buy brown cars?

So does this mean it pretty much water tight and your not going be sitting in a foot of water if you do this ?

Err...yes. The RRS has a 1m wade depth so I'd assume the Disco is at least as good.

I'm not sure on the shape though. The awful bronze doesn't help matters, so I'd like to see one in real life. Good to see they have kept the proper flat bed fold down seats though, unlike my RRS and the FF, both of which have crappy fold seats rather than proper tumble ones.

I think it will drive a hell of a lot better than the old one, but I always liked the Tonka toy looks of the old D3 and D4.

Wonder if they will do an SVR version :p

More likely an SVX version.

Saw one today, works well in real with proportions but still not as resolved at the back as maybe it should be. Looks great inside though.

Just seen one in the flesh and the above colour as well and it still looked terrible. I think it is the rear quarter angle and also the rear overhang is massive. I am sure it will be the choice for the school run though.
