New duvet

siberian goose down or even hungarian goose down are the way to go. I paid around 200 quid for it on ebay and its well worth the money. I went for a 9 and a 13.5

I got a Siberian Goose Down king duvet from Duvet and Pillow Warehouse. 90% down... it's absolutely awesome.

Get some good, high thread count cotton linen as well. :)

the trick is, get a £10 quilt and put that UNDER your bottom sheet, then get a £15 duvet for the top, and don't use a top sheet

feels like a cloud :)

Ignore the people saying £50 tops! I've a good quality John Lewis duvet (closer to 200 than 500) and it's bliss. Very light, airy, warm, soft. Get a great sleep. Others by comparison just feel heavy, like your body's being smothered. It's definitely an investment that's worth it.

I'd definitely recommend spending £200 on your duvet. £500 is excessive unless you can afford it and really really must have it.

Go to Habitat/John Lewis etc and buy their nicest unit.

£50 tops  unless that was a sale then you won't have great quality down filled duvets. But I could be wrong on that front.

And the trick if you have a bigger budget is to get a featherbed or memory foam topper. Or do what I did and end up with both (got the featherbed for the old mattress, then got a new mattress with a memory foam top and kept the featherbed). Now that's a cloud.

As for the duvet. With that budget I agree that a good down duvet is the way to go. In a duvet, feathers do nothing but add weight - it's down you want. High down content duvets feel ridiculously light (mine feels lighter than my pillow), but don't be fooled - they do work. Very well. Pair that with high thread count cotton sheets for summer and Egyptian cotton flannel for winter and you're on to a winner. Almost all my bedding is Northern Nights brand, and I can recommend it.

PS - I really shouldn't know all this stuff, but I do. I value my sleep too much. :D

Got mine from Dunelm Mill for about £40, it's 2 duvets that can be attached together to make a really thick duvet. One of the duvets has a tog rating of 6 (I think) and the other is 11.

Excuse but wtf! at £200 duvet!

I spent £20 on mine, thick tog from my local Home supply store, you could spend less on an ASDA one or something but they feel like paper so I got a nice quality fluffy one!

Anyway, I think it's not been used effectively because on a late night I tend to just "land" on the bed rather than slip into bed making the duvet a bit useless most nights :p

Unless I sleep commando :O

Get a Hungarian goose down one from Harrods but be prepared to spend quite a bit. You can always wait for the sale.

I have bought from duvet pillow warehouse before and they are ok previously.

However I just bought a 4 pack of pillows and they stink of dead ducks, and feathers coming out all the time. Bin time for them. At least I got my money back
