New EE contract...

Yesterday my girlfriend, instructed by myself, went to an EE shop to get a nano sim for her new iPhone 6S - she still had her pre-merger 3G only T-Mobile sim (rolling contract) so also probably needed moving across to a 4G EE plan.

She came away with a 2Gb SIM Only 12mo plan - for the price of a 5Gb plan. Is this normal? I am annoyed at my girlfriend for signing this (she was armed with a screenshot from the EE website which she forgot about) but surely this isn't standard practice?

Even the receipt says 5Gb whereas the signed contract says 2Gb. And because she signed up in store, she doesn't have any cool off period! Any advice?

If the receipt says 5 gig surely that's what she paid for

The salesman told her 2Gb and her signed contract page says 2Gb (in handwriting AND - slightly out of shot - in print above the handwriting). The smaller receipt stapled to the front of the contract says 5Gb - as well as the website advertises 5Gb for the same price.

If she was told it was 2gb and signed for 2gb and was happy to pay that price for 2gb then surely that's that, it's not like salespeople can just randomly stick a price on a contract.

I has a similar but different issue 12 months ago - the signed contract was correct, but they loaded something different onto their computer system. That was easier to resolve.

Go back and complain. I'm sure anything with a direct debit guarantees you a cooling off period. That's really scummy behaviour by them. Or call up and cancel.

Well booger me sideways. That's a new one for me - my bad.

Confirmed by CA too: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/changed-your-mind/cancelling-a-service-youve-arranged/

I wonder if you can get this?

You also get this cooling-off period if you were approached by the business somewhere off the business’s premises and it costs £42 or more.

I wonder what qualifies as 'approahced by the business'

Sounds like grounds to dump her? Girls can be so silly :D

Maybe go back to shop with her and see what you can do? Flipping salesmen are so full of bull and given the chance will sign less savy customers up for anything.

What a stupid thread, it will be a 2GB contract with a 3GB bolt on for the duration of the contract, it's standard for EE.

It's the same when they offer a reduced price, it's usually the standard price charged with a discount added to the contract to make up the difference.

The 5GB for the price of 2GB is on the EE website.

Walking into one of their premises and asking for a new contract most certainly will not :p

Although they might let you off just for the sheer cheek of trying it I suppose.

"I saw one of your adverts and as it approached me (...wind blowing behind the billboard :p) it encouraged me to go into your shop and seal the offered deal"
