New External 500GB Hard Drive.... Help?

Hi all, wanting to invest in a 500GB External drive, but I have no idea which are good to get, my budget is around £70, but I want to make sure the drive is reliable and gonna last a long time, im gonna put some important stuff onto it!

Any help would be great!

One hard drive is not an ideal safety net mate. Invest in 2 500b drives and a basic cheap nas box, run the drives mirrored (raid 1) and you will at least have some sort of extra data safety.

Does your motherboard have an eSATA port?

He wont have 1 HDD, he will have his enternal and a backup of Data on the External.

I Rec the WD My Books, I have a 500GB ES Prem USB 2.0 / ESATA version.

Any other suggestions? From the looks of reviews on the WD they can fail quite easily...

External enclosure + a SATA Hard Disk

With the separate HD you get up to 5-years warranty, not to mention cheaper price & many choices.

Case, recommend the Icy Box IB-360AStUS since it has eSATA (see here)
