New Focus Rs

...with quad concentric terra-scroll electromagnetic photon injected turbos of doom no doubt to give them 1000bhp. But it will sound like **** ...feel more like something that should be on a moon buggy and really have all the appeal of ..well of a piece of space tech, which is great and the geek in me likes that ...a lot, but not in my car, it's turns my petrol-head right off.

Hell I like '60-'70s muscle cars, I like the Triumph Stag etc ...many of which are actually crap to be honest, but I like them because of the way they are, the noises they make, the feel ...the way they make me feel.

Or I could just go an get a E30 M3?

This is it. This is why people still buy Dodge Chargers etc. They're nowhere near as good as today's car's, but they love the character that they have, and i totally get that. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with a 4.4 V8 TT. Not at all. It'd still make me fill my shorts if i drove one. But, without sounding too dramatic, i'm thinking this is the beginning of the end, which i don't want.

When i watched that Clarkson Aston Martin review i thought "pah! What a loada rubbish - good car manufacturers will always make a petrolhead version of their cars", but i have to admit, even people like Ferrari and Lamborghini are "exploring other options".

We're not talking about a year from now, we're talking 10-15 years from now when, imo, large, awesome sounding engines will be rare. This is a stepping stone to "the future" of electric cars with the age of V12 Aston Martin's, V10 Lamborgini's and V10 BMW's drawing to a close.

The new one looks awful compared to the current shape. Just look at those terrible rear lights!

Eugh. I bet the world will be full of crappy eco cars soon. I imagine doing a Will Smith in I, Robot and sticking to petrol. :p

Absolutely, couldn't agree more, with regards to the BMW M5 engine here, I have no problem with it, in of it's self but because for the first time, it is actually smaller than it's predecessors ...and you look at what some of the other car companies are doing, it is like the beginning of the end, like we are witnessing the last hurrah of massive petrol engines, and now things will start to downsize and use other methods to achieve the power. Makes me very sad actually.

It is a dodgy photoshop, I really like the Mk2 RS, the MK1 was and still is a great car.

The best bit about the MK2 was Ford getting the emmissions down to 225g/km with 301BHP, a stroke of genius on the test bed, most owners seem to get low 20 mpg tho!

Still the real poor side is the car keeps going up, it launched at £24995 and is now about £2k more, due to the Euro exchange rate blah blah!
