Each of the HDD bays can hold a 2.5" drive. The only thing is, the rubber mountings are outside the width of the smaller drive, so you might need to fabricate something, if you're installing a traditional hard drive. (SSDs don't need the padding, I guess -- no moving parts.)
 
For those of you who have bought the black pearl case - when you open the front panel, is the panel where the fan guards/drive mounted black or silver?
 
In preparation for my delivery of the R2 Black Pearl, I've begun on modding 3x Fractal Design Silent Series 140mm fans.

2 on top and 1 at the side, all with white LED's.
I'm installing another 140mm in the bottom but with no LED's.

These fans already come with LED holes, which was a nice surprise. I was expecting to have to drill my own.

I've done 1 fan so far, may consider posting a complete guide when I do the other 2.

I may do that.

I've realised now that the fan I've just done will have to be used on the side panel.

With the other 2 I'll have to drill my own holes because the fans need to be the other way round to extract air from the case at the top. The pre-made holes won't light up the blades correctly when the fans face the opposite way.

im thinking of gettin a couple of white cathodes to lighten up inside abit :)

just need to mod my side panel for a window / mesh

the fun begins!

no there isnt a filter, but there is a panel which you can put on it, which stops air / dust entering the case, but this doesnt allow you to put a fan on it :(

and the 5870 should fit :)

ive got 2 GTX260s and they fit fine with room to spare :)
 
Damn, wonder if I should use it as an exhaust fan?
I got an H50 cooler which I'll use as an intake at the back - bought a filter for that.

Wonder how bad it would be to have this config:
2x front intake fans
2x top exhaust fans
1x side exhaust fan
1x back intake fan
1x bottom intake fan

Bit of a whirlwind going on there or something :S
 
I will have a more accurate ETA Monday, once I have spoken to our supplier who have been closed over the festive period.

i got a simlar set up there,

2 x 120mm intake fans at the front
2 x 140mm Exhaust fans at the top
1 x 120mm exhaust at the back
1 x 120mm intake at the bottom

and its very quiet! might get a side fan for the case to, but i might chop the side panel and put a window in there, but not sure yet

ive gone for Fractal Fans, to match the case :)
 
Yes, I have an update and it's not great - I will quote the email.

Hi Lee,

 Stock ETA to you is around the 20th of January a container with 340 pieces DEFINE R2 is incoming and 3-4 weeks later another 650 pieces.

 I will come to you with further information in the next 2 days, have to work myself through a big amount of emails after the Christmas days.
