New gaming PC

Right put all the parts together from above, Not done anything in the bios just built it all up and got it running.

What should I be doing to get good performance part from the obvious oc

Right I have had the machine up and running for a week now. Its seems I have a problem where the usb ports will not work unless I restart and the same happens with the sound. I could fire the pc up and get no sound. to resolve I either have to unplug usb/sound cable or restart the system.

Can any one help?

Ok the sound problem seems to have calmed down which is good.

Anyway today is first time I have had to sit down

What sort of software should I be looking to install to make this even better.

Tried to install IRST but got a message saying my computer is not compatible.

Any tips would be great guys.

No idea what IRST is. EDIT : Oh, Intel Rapid Storage. Should work on that motherboard.

I don't have any particular software with my machine. Maybe an anti-virus like Avast, which I used to use, but now sticking with Microsoft internet security.

Video Lan I suppose, MSI Afterburner for overclocking, recording videos and monitoring the GPU in-game, Hardware Monitor, although there probably other alternatives like Speedfan, some benchmarking software to check everything is up to speed (Unigine, Prime 95 / OCCT for overclocking), ATTO / ASSD for the SSD, memtest86 for checking if the memory is stable...

Can do some tweaks for the SSD, like moving the page file to another drive (save a few gigs), disabling hibernation (saves 6GB), flashing the SSD to bios 000F (very easy to do with the M4).

The IRST was rapid start. which i got setup via EZsetup but the one you mentioned is blacked out. Having a look in the manual would suggest that the os needs to be on the Hard drive rather than the SSD.

for the overclock I have just used ET6 for a 4ghz clock

Onto the last thing from me. MY on/off charge appears not to be working.

Would I be right in thinking this is a F USB3 cable since that is where it is plugged in.

Or is it a front panel cable which I dont think it is because of the smaller cables that I have plugged in above.

The first one is a USB3.0 front panel connector.

The second is of the front panel connections for the LEDs/power switches.

on/off charge lets you charge a apple product when the pc is off well its ment to.

Due to certain mobile phone limitations, users may need to connect the mobile phone to their PC before the PC enters S4/S5 mode to enable a quick charge from non ON/OFF Charge USB ports.
Charging results may vary by model.

Not sure if that's useful? From the little I could find I think it's the USB2 ports, any front panel USB connectors that are red on the motherboard support it I think.
