Stevie and Mark looked after my EP3, they're damn good. Glad you've got a potential solution. You on with Honda for a different sensor?

Do you need a DC5 one or an EP3 one? Assume the Speedo will be be reading incorrectly too.

Wouldn't have thought a speed sensor would be silly money? Not that complex a part...basically just a hall sensor?

Stevie at eightspeed is a good guy though, really helpful. Hopefully get it sorted quickly. If its a main dealer only part then let me know, have a contact who might be able to help on the price.

Yeah his speedo is massively out, he just went past a school at nearly 50mph - CHILD KILLER! ;)

spoke to honda today but they have told me the part isnt available until the 19th

Could be expensive the if they have to pull the gearbox to fit it

its not bad, the speed sensor just fits into the back of the gearbox. no removal required thankfully. just hoping its whats needed to fix

speedo is massively out as gibbo says. didnt notice it last night as i was ensuring that the lsd was working correctly.
first time i have been on a dual carriageway since it was fitted and 60mph was reading 100 etc etc

Will, it is a main dealer part. spoke to crew honda and they have quoted me two prices.
I need either the DC5 speed sensor cog. they quoted me £2.80 ex VAT
or the whole DC5 Speed Sensor. they quoted me £86.17 ex VAT

if you could ask your mate, that would be appreciated.

Andrew Moore is off to TDI north for some work tomorrow so he is asking there for me.

I am going to call Tegiwa and see if they can get me one sooner too.

Simple fix hopefully. The sensor screws in from outside the box I believe.

Edit. Beaten to it!

I'm guessing the Seller sold him a bare box Clarkey. With DC5 sensor removed, and he's ended up fitting the EP3 sensor to it.

You're reading in KPH as it's a JDM box, so make sure you order a converter if you need to get a DC5 VSS

apparently i need to get the cog or the VSS

8speed never mentioned about the converter. i guess that would be required if i used the dc5 sensor and not my current ep3 sensor with a dc5 cog?

speed sensor works off the speed that the diff goes or something like that.

the thread pitch of the dc5 and ep3 ones are different causing the clicking.

finding a DC5 VSS is proving to be a PITA

managed to get a DC5 VSS from integrastella. £50 but hopefully it will be worth it to get the car fixed.

if the dc5 sensor doesnt work then i can take the cog off it and attach it to the EP3 sensor.

Do you need any Honda bits or not?

Can ask my mate tomorrow if you do...part number would be appreciated just to confirm I am price checking the right thing...appreciate you may not have it though. Here's hoping the bit you've ordered does the trick!

Lol thanks. Bar the clicks :p

Thanks will, I got the part on the way tomorrow. Will update when I know more.

Had an issue with the VSS when a mate fitted a Rover 400 gearbox to a Rover 600 - both the Honda PG1. He didn't change it, had a speedo that read under and got a speeding ticket on his first journey out.

Oops. :p
