Hi, just bought B grade Radeon 390 8GB from ocuk.

My current GTX 460 has two 6 pin connectors. I've read this needs one 8 pin and one six pin. Which connector do I need to buy?

Is it 6 pin female to 8 pin PCi express male?

Corsair HX 620w

Being that the HX is nearly 12 years old, it's probably worth replacing it with a new PSU that has 8 Pin PCI-E cables as standard.

If you bought the HX new then you've certainly had your moneys worth from it.

Hi mate,

Personally I agree with the others that it's time to upgrade your PSU, but if you don't then I've got a spare 2 x 6 pin to 1 x 8 pin adapter that came with my EVGA GPU, though you'll need an additional 6 pin for the other connector, so if you've got 3 x 6 pins then you're good to go, but I do advise a new PSU :)

Right I'm having problems installing this graphics card.

The new PSU is in, have installed the 390 and connected the two connectors.

But on boot I'm getting a black screen and no display.

Have reverted to on board graphics and the display is fine.

Have checked the seating it looks ok.

MSI dragon displays and the fans spin.

I'm connecting via DVI, have tried both connectors.

Older boards can certainly have compatibility issues with newer cards. Might be worth updating your BIOS as well just to be sure it's as stable as can be, assuming you're not using the latest one already.

Worked for hour in stress test, within ten minutes of playing bf1 it freezes and after I turn pc back on it won't show display.

Faulty card? Was ocuk b grade.

I will try again later on I'm at work now.

So furmark was working, done a default 1080p benchmark.

Put on bf1 and it worked for ten minutes then the display went blank, pc stayed on though. Tried to restart but to no avail, still no display.

Had to open the case, re install the card. Then it worked.

Tried BF1, exact same problem. This time though reseating the card did not help and still can not display to monitor .

Anything I can try before sending the card back?

I thought it might be a seating issue but it was fully in with a screw.

A little update. Reseated the card, screwed in with two screws and reconnected the cables. Now it always displays to the monitor.

But lo and behold another problem. :(

At random times, the computer freezes in windows. It could be on the desktop, in chrome, in game. Within 5 minutes or one hour. It's nothing to do with GPU load, as i've ran a furmark and heaven benchmark which it is stable on both. Plus it runs games for hours without hick ups.

I've tried uninstalling drivers with DDU and then reinstalling but it didn't stop it.

Any ideas?
