is the i7 not better than an i5 though?

In gaming there are a few titles that will benefit from the hyper threading of the i7, BF3 being one of them.

There has been cases of high end GPU's suffering bottlenecking on i5's

Your opinion is weird as hell, the 7970 was good value you would bang on about, that's when it was more expensive than the GTX680 now.

On the other forum, you'd argue that it was good value, and how awesome it was, etc, etc.

Now? The 7970 is acceptable at around 340, but it belongs at 300-320.

I never said that atall, I said it was an awsome card just like everyone else because it was better than we expected from AMD, didnt have high expectations. And said compared to the current cards (liek the 6990/590)although overpriced for new gen it was good value, not what it should be though.

7970 is good value atm

If it had been priced correctly, yes.
But I wasn't that impressed by it in the slightest, nor do I really find the GTX680 impressive.

The price was terrible, but the performance was better than most people were expecting.Anyway, not sure why your talking about the past, its irrelevant

If I was building a new system today I would buy 16gb ram. 8gb is fine atm, but with prices being so low 16gb is a no brainer.

It's barely even twice the 5870, in most cases not.

It wasn't far behind the 6990, people were pleasantly surprised. Time travel is fun.

Yeh, you would find it hard to use more than 8GB unless using heavy programmes liek allot of Photoshop
