New harddrive makes a weird noise sometimes.

Hi, I ordered the Ultima ROG infernus about a month ago, and I am really happy with it - 11 out of 10 :P

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-302-OE&groupid=43&catid=2385&subcat=1270 - my PC

The only issue I have with it is the 2tb Seagata HDD, (the SSD is fine, works really well) when using it, every 5-10 minutes or so, it makes a weird clunky beep noise, it's kind of hard to explain, but every time it happens I jump because I think my PC is about to die.

I had a look on a couple of threads here and people have commented that this happens to their drives sometimes but otherwise works fine. I've had no issues at all with it, everything works fine.

I downloaded seatools and it says my drive is fine also, but is there any way to stop the beep/click?

This is the drive name if that helps at all?

It sounds like the drive is spinning up/down according to its usage and that is what you are hearing.

I recently bought a 500GB Seagate mechanical drive and it's the noisiest drive I have ever owned. It makes an almost squealing noise when it spins up/down - but it passes the usual tests and seems to be healthy. Like you i've had no issues so far.

A batch of noisy Seagate drives perhaps?
