new HD and win 8.1 install help request.

i have a PC away for repair (failed hd) and while its away, thought i'd get my older PC up and running.

it's an i3, 8gb with no hd as i removed it to use as a back up drive for the above PC.

if i were to buy this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-366-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1279 and win 8.1, what is the procedure for starting it up?

do i connect the hd, put the win dvd in dvd drive, have the system boot from the win dvd drive and install win 8.1 or are there other things i need to do to get the system up and running?

that's all you need to do,worth setting the sata ports to ahci beforehand in the bios,just incase you add in an ssd in the future ect

it wont hurt to use ahci
