New HDD isnt being detected sort of...

I just installed windows 7 on SSD and then I pluged a fresh brand new 500gb HDD and it showed up in bios fine so i booted into windows and looked in "my computer" and the HDD was not there, cant save anything to it or anything just see my C drive. So I go into device manager to see if it see's it and it does, and it says the device is working fine.

anyone got any suggestions?

You need to format it first before it shows up in my computer.

Right click My Computer > Manage > Disk Management

ahhh I see thanks mate, what file system do I need, NTSF? is that the normal one? I only need this HDD for data. Also whats the difference between master boot record and GUID partition table

EDIT: This is all I could find about it. Goes right over my head but you might understand it a bit better.

Unless the drive/array is larger than 2Tb then go with MBR.
