New hdds, pc will not boot?

hello there! can anyone give me some clues on whats wrong?

got a system with a Z77X-UD5H board, and i boot from a SSD, with hdd for storage

the HDD needed replacing so i have replaced it and formatted it, but the pc refuses to boot with the HDD connected?

with just the SSD, its ok, with SSD and hdd, all i get is "missing operating system"


made the Z77X-UD5H boot from only the SSD, and it still fails!

windows 7, F14 bios

When installing windows. Only have one drive connected, stops problems like this happening.

Might be able to fix it by booting from a Macrium boot CD, it has a fantastic startup repair tool
