The random image that popped up in my head wasthat of Robocop. I think our police force will one day look like one of the army from the cartoon series where all they do is fight and kill bugs, i cant remember the name.

Overal i think it is a good idea and way of fighting crime.

EDIT
This is better than the rollerblades that was issued to them in London iirc.

I already have a headcam (they make for great snowboarding footage - the falls are always a giggle).

Maybe I should wear it when I'm in public - just in case I need to monitor the coppers?

What I really want to know, however, is what technology they are using - I have to attach my headcam to a DV camera, which only records 2 hours tops, and the battery soon runs out.

iirc it says on sky that it records 400hrs. I wonder where they put the harddrive when they are up and about on the street.

That was a hilariously bad idea :p

It was used in NY iirc and it was a huge hit there, it was a flopped in London due to the suspect going on the grass and then they cant catch them. It was also reported that some officers fell down easily on them despite training by some popular rollerbladding expect or something like that.

How are suspects going to falldown the stairs now, I wonder?

Sweeney fan are we ? ;) They are not all mindless thugs believe it or not.

It's a good idea. It protects the officers from false allegations also it is good evidence to present to a court and could save a lot of time and money when things go to court as it has done here.

The 400 hours maximum has to take into account at least 350 hours of tea drinking. Lets not forget our PC's like their PG.

Good choice. Used in some of the clubs round Nottingham, so can only be a good idea in helping the force.

Better pics of the equipment itself here ...

Still trying to find any specs. I am most interested in finding out what tech they are using to ensure the device is tamper-proof i.e. the video can not be falsified ... intentionally erased to remove evidence which might support the accused or modified / re-sequenced to change account of what happened. Anyone know what tech is used for CCTV and / or speed cameras, in this context ?
