I've got to the stage where I've decided I need to get out and meet some new people outside of my friendship group (I'm the type that has a few close friends rather than a large group of less close friends), so I thought taking up an activity or hobby would be a good idea. Learning something new would be good too.

Problem is, I've got no idea what to look at or where to start. I've previously done rock climbing and kayaking before - I was good at and enjoyed both. Unfortunately the nearest climbing place is too far away and I'm not fancying kayaking again at the moment.

Would be good if it was something relatively active as I'm on a fitness mission at the moment (gym 2~3 times a week currently). Unfortunately the gym doesnt offer anything in the way of classes..

So lets have some suggestions, anything at all - sensible to off the wall.

Other info - I'm a 9-5er, working in IT, 24, single (so meeting women would be good too!)

I was about to come in here and suggest archery, but it looks like I was beaten to it.

I still haven't managed to robin hood any of my arrows yet. The day will come...

Figure skating - lots of women and very few other men ;).

Seriously though, what about ice hockey?

Sadly no decent rinks down here, Exmouth is getting one but no idea what kind of size it'll be.

However....

Skater Hockey! Exeter play at Riverside or Newton Abbot who are a bit more for beginners play at Dyrons in Newton :)
