Hey all, I have been living in a shared house now since leaving home, only cost me £300PM and that included everything.

Now I have just got a home with my girlfriend and I totally didn't realise a home can cost so much!!!

Rent ; £395
Water ; £35
Electric and Gas ; £75
Councill Tax ; £92
TV ; £22

Plus the other stuff like Internet, Home Insurance, Increase in Car Insurance.

It's nice having a home to yourselfs though!!!

I has been a sruggle this month with paying £400 for bond too!!

Who else rents??? I was going to get a mortage and buy a home but I feel like I would be stuck somewhere for life paying it off, I see renting a bit like throwing money away as when you leave it wont be yours!!!

Plus it's bare no sofa and fridge freezer!!! Hahaa this month is costing me a fortune!!

/ Cool story!! :D

Seems like I have it cheap then!!! £395 for a 2 bed house with a nice front garden in a respected non councill area is good!! Just the other stuff you dont realise you have to pay!

Also I got told by the Agents that it can be our home for life if we so wish, its a 12 month contract with an option to keep extending, they said we can do what we like, get a new kitchen bathroom etc, paint and redecorate. Do you guys who rent fix the house up? I just dont like the fact we can do a lot to it but its not our home so to speak so will seem a waste of time and effort spending a fortune for no reason????

A mortgage is better because you actually own the house at the end, and you can get mortgages for a similar price of renting. My girlfriend and I are currently researching mortgage rates and we can get a mortgage for around £300 a month for a 2 bedroom house.

If you decide to sell your house in the future you use the money from the sale to pay off the mortgage in one or you can get the mortgage transferred to your new house.

BTW, why is Virgin/Sky so expensive, my friend is paying £60 a month just for SkyTV, why not just have broadband and freeview, then you can stream everything off the net and save loads, FYI, my parents have the movies package, they get everything except for sports channels and they're paying around £30 so why is Virgin/Sky so expensive for some people and, if you're on a budget why get the total package?

Put it this way, our electric and gas for next year is estimated at like £1900, consider yourself lucky ;) I'm glad I don't pay the bills around here :D

Is that £395 each, or between you? If it's between you, that's very cheap...

I'm a student, and currently renting a house with 3 others, and we're all paying £275/m excluding bills...

Yeah its £395 for us both, we both work full time making a little over £2k between us a month, so we have a good chunk of spare cash to save :)

My mobile phone bill this month was as much as your rent.

I pay £35 for a 02 contract and get I don't know how many free mins and texts, to spend £395 a month on a bill is crazy!!

I live in Leeds, so up North! So maybe thats why its cheap? A town called Pudsey.
