New Insurance Groups

Woo if it's based on weight and gadgetry then mine will come out even lower than it's current group 3 :D

Stock, probably not :p

With an engine conversion, Definitely not :p

How much did you pay for the modification on your insurance out of interest?

I wish it was like Australia where their Road Tax covers 3rd party insurance cover (I think its Aus). It's also where young lads can afford to run around in rapid jap classics.

Yeah that would be great. A friend of mine moved over there and he is 18 now with an MR2 turbo, I've got a civic :(

£520 with HIC & Breakdown cover:cool:

I would guess (pessimistically) those of us who will now be in a relatively lower group (e.g. going from group 20/20 to 39/50) will pay the same, and those who are worse off (e.g. group 10/20 to 40/50) will pay more. Most people lose, and at best you stay the same. I hope I'm wrong.

Looks like they've basically doubled it for cars less than group 20 and split out group 20 into another 10 or so additional levels. It was a bit daft having S2000's etc in with the Supercars :)

(PS Integra Type-R Group 18 -> 35)

It had to be done really. Group 20 was getting more than a bit crowded. I think the multiply by 2.5 and if your groups lower idea is a bit optimistic though :p Don't forget high thirties to 50 will simply swallow up all the old group 20 cars so you can't really do a straight comparison.

The pessamist in me says we'll all be paying a bit more :p

group 42 for me , at leat I'm not on the highest one any more :D

how many did there used to be ( before 20 ) , 6 or 8 ?

BMW 328 I SPORT COUPE 3 1995 1999 16

From what I can figure out...

So, only group 16? Thats not bad. That cant be right, but then it is based on age etc. Who knows! Took me long enough to figure that webpage out!

I can't even find mine.

they don't list them on the webpage as they assume all Rover owners are too old to use the internet, you will find them at the local library and also on flyers being distributed at all Gala bingo venues :D ;)

For all your informations, the newer grouping system has only been retroactively applied to cars that had a security rating :)

Nowt in there for my Pug 306 either. Lists the old group but not the new one. Perhaps its insurance exempt ;)

They have also left French cars out, the AA man will give you a copy of that list the next time you call them out :D

You should get a discount if you own a french car, afterall its not going to do as many miles as a Jap or German one :p
