New Insurance Groups

Glad to see they're taking weight into account. As the article says, those who choose to drive huge 4x4s should really be paying for the huge damage they'll inflict if they have an accident.

Looks like they've taken the opportunity to downgrade a few older performance cars. The B5 and B7 RS4 are both currently group 20 but whilst the B7 goes up to 42, the B5 is only 39.

they are only doing it to increase taxes. thats all the government ever does. I agree ppl with 4x4 should be taxed through the roof a a 2.7litre twin trubo intercooler diesel is NOT needed for school runs. But on the other hand REWARD US WHO USE SMALL CARS. They are just increasing taxes, like they will on petrol when it starts to run out. They will outprice it even more but yet we all need petrol so we have to buy it anyway

Any ideas on my uber cool 1 litre micra 2000 Xreg?? i think its group3 at the mo :p

they don't list them on the webpage as they assume all Rover owners are too old to use the internet, you will find them at the local library and also on flyers being distributed at all Gala bingo venues :D ;)

Oi, less of that cheek

Even my 70 year old grandmother has an eBay account :D

edit... Found it :p Shame it doesn't list the new insurance group for it though.

We already have a working tax system for people who drive large uneconomical cars, its applied to the fuel.

They have also left French cars out, the AA man will give you a copy of that list the next time you call them out :D

lol

However did I mention its a diesel? Say what you like about the electrics on french cars, but the XU diesel goes on forever!

I take it lower is better? In which case, I'm rather chuffed but confused about my new group.

BMW 530i Sport - old group 17, new group... 34 for both manual and auto.

Curiously, though..

BMW 530i SE - old group 17, new group 38 for the manual, 34 for the automatic.

How is the Sport cheaper? This makes a 530i SE more expensive than a Group 34 535i SE?

17 to 35, groupings mean naff all anyway though as far as i can tell, so i dont see the point in this.

Ok, I thought we put this to bed a few weeks ago.

So, why exactly to groups mean naff all?

They only seem to relate to actual premiums which i receive very very loosely, while it gives *some* idea its not something ive ever bothered paying attention too.

But we all know when it comes to insurance, you are special!

hmmmmm :p cant be just me that finds insurance far too weird and random for the groups to really relate to much

I've a feeling that the 530 I SE 2000-2003 with a group 17/38 instead of a 17/34 is an error on their behalf.

Hmmm I seem to be better off on the new system

Fabia vRS

Current group - 9 (9*2.5 = 22.5)

New Group- 18

What difference this will actually make I have no idea.

Mine doesn't even appear to be listed under the new system. It's not as if insurance group has any real meaning on cars as old as mine anyway.
My 14 year old car isn't listed under the new system either. I wonder why not.

20 to 42 for me.
Hey ho, who cares, not me, I have to have insurance to drive, so sadly I will just take it from behind just like every year. Its just the nex time, it may chafe a little more.
