Where the Discord at?

There’s a lot of users on IRC. You would be surprised how many still use it.

To be honest the biggest issue I mainly remember from the IRC days was, it was the ultimate idling program. People wouldn't say anything in the channels for hours upon hours.

You get that with discord

At least with Discord if you close it, you can see messages appear when you fire it back up.

Wrong - not with the new clients all messages are there, saved.

With Discord too many non required channels created by mods then you don't get people speaking in them and also wrong channels are used for wrong discussions. Along with the image spam.

Anyway they both good to use there isn't anything wrong with using one or the other. I may jump into Acme's Discord later.

Another thing about discord is that you HAVE to be registered to log in.

With this IRC you can go as you please without registering. A guest login as it's called.

The app blocks the browser nav bar, so it requires closing the browser to go elsewhere. Bug or feature

I have no idea what you mean, You would just open another tab to go somewhere else. In public mode you can't go back and forward. It's a feature.

Ah. In public mode the address bar and ui controls of the browser (versus the IRC page app which takes up the whole screen space) just vanish, preventing seeing or being able to navigate to any other open browser tabs.

that doesn't happen here in public mode. It's not what I thought it was. Screenshot next time please so I can check it out.

I’ve decided to jump onto discord as well but I’ll be keeping the free irc vps up for as long as I can.

Me and Acme has now set up an IRC to Discord bridge which means any user on either platform can cross talk.

Or just join the discord. Its just IRC with features and a nice app.

You won't convince legacy users cos they so used to IRC. Some moved over though. I would like nothing but to switch my VPS off so the more move over to Discord the better lol.

Anyway you only just made it nice with colours n stuff, took you ages. ha ha
