New Judge Dredd film

The Stallone version of JD was ok but he should never have removed his helmet. Having been a die hard Dredd fan for years, it just isn't meant to be done in a film or otherwise.

I hope this happens and would like to see the Dark Judges in it also. That would work nicely in getting Psi Judge Anderson in it also.

The first Dredd film wasn't to bad. I'm sure I've got it on DVD somewhere, easy enough to find on Amazon.co.uk. The one film that did take me ages to find was an earlier one called Hardware, which is based on a 2000AD short called Shok!

I'm really looking forward to this one.

The script for the new Dredd film is available online if you want to know what its all about.

Plebo, where is the script?
Is it full script or screenplay or what?

I saw RED today with Karl Urban, I think he will make an excellent Dredd, hopefully they give him shedloads of the comics to read.

Ill say the same, karl urban looked great in RED.

Id never seen the guy before, why i put off making an comment making compare with stallone.

While the first film was pure plastic with a storyline to suit, it was perfect foil for the cast, making it an enjoyable guilty pleasure for most. Going the other way with urban could work well, going from his performance in red, you could see the twisted psychotic in the guys facial and eye expressions.

Looking forward to it, some great films being made from the comic book genre in the last few years.

Urban has a bit of presence about him... think he could make a good Dredd. Just hope it's better than Doom (also starring Urban).

he definatley had a certain brooding presence about him in Chronicles of Riddick, Vako was one of the few characters that really stood out thanks to Urban.

I'm not optimist(in general), but its a better actor than stallone. I just cant see how the studios can allow it be made the way Dredd is meant to be made.

I'd love to see some of the unique stuff and the satire in the film though. Like Block wars, or the fatty olympics.

I enjoyed the first one, probably because I have never read 2000AD so the fact that it was cheesy trash and almost certainly didn't stay close to the comics couldn't bother me. I'll be interested to see how this one goes.

All this talk of 2000ad makes me want a film version of Nemesis the Warlock. Whether it would work or not is another matter but that is what I remember as a kid, my dad was an avid collector of 2000ad and would let me read them.
