New mac keyboard; work with PC?

It's shorter than that. You can use any extention cable with it. The funky Apple ones have the notch in the female end which won't bother a PC in the slightest.

..so you need to use the extension if you want to use it with an iMac?

i love this keyboard, its good against food, dust and hair :P

I bought it yesterday and it works fine! Cheers for the help.

Its a great keyboard, i just need to get used to the alt/cmd buttons being switched from a pc keyboard.

The extension cable is a little odd, but it dosent affect me as it will always be on the end of my keyboard.

Ive also just fixed my copperhead so im enjoying my input devises again!

Cheers,

Charlie

Any chance you can point me in the right direction on this?

I've got the older style bluetooth kb, and it would be handy to actually use the Volume buttons. At the moment I have them mapped to the F14-F16 keys.

Cheers

uninstalled bootcamp now and am just using sharpkey to map the additional F13-F19 keys. While it is useful to have the function keys working you will have to press the "fn" key to use the normal F1-F12 which I found quite inconvenient. Besides when you install bootcamp it installs drivers for all other mac hardware as well not just the keyboard.

forgot to add...u ment to delete other drivers from the apple folder but left with AppleKeyboardInstaller, BootCamp.msi and AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi.

i did this and it only install apple keyboard driver.

Not had a change of keyboard for years, still using my MS Desktop Elite. Fancying one of these but I'd need a mouse to.....

That is about the only reason for me to upgrade from my current Apple keyboard. Lovely and wireless. Apparently the new wireless keyboard doesn't have a numberpad so I would have to get the wired version. :(

Correct, the wireless version is strictly limited to letters.. pretty good if you want to go portable, useless if you just want a wireless keyboard (fullsized)

I suppose if someone had a laptop (Mac or otherwise) and wanted a proper keyboard for when they were working then a wireless keyboard would be quite handy. But my PC and monitor don't really enter the realm of portable so I suppose I'd have to go back to wired if I wanted a new keyboard that didn't have gaps for food crumbs to hide. :(

Just picked up a wired version and it's really nice to type on, everything seems to work fine bar the extra F keys and the eject key.

I can't decide if it's worth getting hold of the drivers for the extra keys from bootcamp or not.

Have you tried Sharpkeys? You could probably map some other keys or even key combinations to the extra F keys and perhaps make the eject key eject a CD drive or something? :p
