"...this is going to be a press gathering for Mac products..."

Sounds good. Most likely the new iMacs which I'm looking foward to. If they manage to shoehorn a Q6600 into the new case design I think Ill grab one right away. :) (wishful/hopeful thinking)

A Quad in an iMac would be brilliant. But if I take my head out of the clouds, I can realistically see a new case and a minor bump in specs to MacBook Pro levels.

We'll see. :)

I'm willing to bet they are true.

I bet they're going to look more along the lines of a cinema display with a cd/dvd slot :)

any chance that they may be updating the laptop range/ mini range as well? Im hoping for an update of the mini or a ultra portable powerbook

I prefer the current keyboard tbh, Im not keen on the white + brushed aluminium whatever it is in that new one..

The imac is supposed to be alluminium isnt it?

Hmm they love it

Yeah the new iMac is going to be brushed aluminum just like the Mac Pro.

I doubt we'll see an ultra portable, but if you're willing to wait until August then it wouldn't hard to see if they've kept it quiet :)

The mini isnt being renewed is it?

I enjoy my mini, its a fun little teddy box
It's looooooooooong overdue for an update, so now would be as good a time as any for an update (unless they discontinue it)

I think if they don't update it now, it'll be discontinued. Which is a shame because its a really nice little machine and I've been waiting for them to stick a Core 2 in there.

Maybe they'll merge it with the AppleTV and call it a Media Centre.

well if you want the mini's cpu is socketed, you can replace the chip with a core 2 memron, theres a few guides on the internet.

Aye I know, I check thebay occasionally for a second hand mini. I wouldn't buy a brand new one to experiment on. :D

on a side note , are the imac cpu's socketed ?

iirc, I think they are but its not a popular upgrade path as apparently the case is a right royal pain in the ass to get open. At least the original intel one was (I'm assuming you mean an Intel iMac) :)

So you think that if they don't update the Mini on the 7th, that'll be the end of it? I'm in the market for one...

Thats just my speculation. They just seem to have been neglected for a while. We all know its thermally possible to put a Core 2 in the box and yet the Minis are still Core Duos. I just think if they don't upgrade it now they never will.
