Hmm, the new iMac looks quite nice, but I was expecting a bigger improvement tbh. But I am very tempted by one!

The new keyboards are very nice though.

I like the idea of a mini but experience of laptop OSX goodness has made me more of a laptop convert. I have an X2+1950XTX for my gaming rig but all that does is plays BF2142.. and speedwise for graphics it puts the MBP in a firm second place.

Although I see the mini got a bump in CPU to a core 2 duo in the recent refresh too. Still life in the ol' dog yet! Plus as it's high power small space there's loads of things you can do with it that don't require high graphics performance.

As to the question: "Would I buy an iMac to replace my desktop/gaming rig?" then I think the answer is no. My MBP has enough power to run the apps I use it for (mainly mail, web, itunes, guitar pro 5, skype and msn).

The quadro FX5600 is an 8800gtx with 1.5gb built around cad work, its a fantastically fast card and VERY expensive, when i was given it, it had its own insurance policy

The Quadro FX4500 is based on the 7800gtx and is considerably slower but sill quite fast.

Yeah was mistaken - thought you were calling the FX4500 the FX5600 (as in the GeForce one) - didn't realise both of them were Quadros anyway!
