New Mass Effect Screenshots

you know, just about all the 360 games i've seen running have slow down and they always disable VSYNC to boost the frame rate which results in horrible screen tearing.

They don't disable VSYNC for that reason, if a game is going to run low at like 25fps or under, then VSYNC will not help the issue at all, infact with it off the difference in frame rate would be even more noticeable if in places it exceeded 60fps.

Funny that, I can't remember slow downs or tearing in... (looks at games played list) Gears, Crackdown, COD2, COD3, Burnout: Revenge, PGR3, Enchanted Arms, Potc, Lost Planet, Amped 3, GRAW, Viva Pinata, Kameo, Hitman, Prey, Tomb Raider, Chromehounds...

There was tearing in Saints Row; and some slow downs in Oblivion; granted.

If 'they' disable VSYNC ergo. screen tearing why is there also slow down? Surely it's one or t'other.

Anyway, back on subject.

This game has the potential to be something truly special. :) Can't wait. Thanks for the pics.

No slowdown or tearing in CoD3 or Tomb Raider?? you must have a different designed xbox then!

If this game is anywhere near as good as KOTOR and Jade Empire, i will be happy. Will show oblivion what an RPG is all about :D

Never had any FPS troubles with Gears Of War atleast, well coded I suppose.

Not had many FPS issues really, except Blacksite: Area 51 that's awful, early in dev though.

CoD3 was fine for me FPS wise, except for the fact the game sucks. :)

anyone remember that weird RPG game on the PS1 where you had to roam around a space station that was in close orbit around a star but starting to deteriorate?

I remember it being hugely atmospheric but only ever tried the demo. This reminds me of it in some strange, odd manner.

Because he's a nay-sayer. Too many people who prefer the PC don't like the fact that they STILL haven't caught up to the Xbox360 in terms of graphics, even though newer graphics cards are out costing twice the price of the console.

They need something to grasp on to.

Whoa hold your horses there mate. My rig easily destroys the 360 at everything and anything. The graphics card was only 120. Get a reality check, you're the one grasping.

He's talking in terms of price.

The 360 offers £1000+ value in terms of power.

No it doesn't. My PC is worth roughly 600 pounds. A PC churning out similair graphics to the 360 at the same resolution would cost about 400-500. Oblivion as a reference point.

You think a 360 can do stuff on par with those specs? LOL

I have admitted many times I am a bigger 360 fan than PC and PS3s, but come on mate, you're bordering on delusion, delirious reasoning that reeks of somebody who's never came close to a PC capable of running even Doom!

(except for the one you're using atm :p)

Yes it can, it has worse hardware but it has a huge advantage of having developers create games for a single specification.

Thats really not an equivalent spec to a 360

Anyone this is a really stupid argument to get into, can we stay on thread topic?

Those shots look AMAZING! cannot wait for this game :D

A PC running the likes of Gears Of War on max at say 720P resolution would cost a fair amount, but probably a 8800GTS could handle it at 720P.

Still PC's aren't exactly that high above the 360 yet.

I'd tend to agree. The PC can generally show the same games with better filtering at a high resolution but there's no real big difference in visual quality that I've noticed recently.

A wave of next-gen-pc-games need to hit before we'll see these consoles lagging.

This thread is going off topic, if you want to debate the merits of 360 vs pc (which is pointless as they are two entirely different platforms) can it be done elsewhere. Anyway is the release date around september?

As far as I know there is no known release date. Bioware have been keeping it secret and they even said it wont be shown at E3 I think.

I'm hoping it'll arrive Q4 07 cause thats when I'm getting my 360.
