New Matrix Movie Rumours Surface

Didn't really like the sequels at the time, but I enjoy them a lot more now and glad they were made. That whole universe feels more fleshed out, intriguing and the nods to the paranormal (ghosts, werewolfs, etc) as well as Christianity was pretty ambitious if nothing else.

That ridiculous agent smith fight in the second though, urgh...

I always thought they should do a Matrix - Terminator cross over film, the two universes would work being man vs machine

Nope.

The first is brilliant. The second has some excellent set pieces but the plot starts to unravel a bit. The third is awful, unbelievably bad, no argument. There is nothing of merit in the third film.

I guess. Matrix hasn't had their Terminator:Salvation/Alien 4 movie yet. So they need to make that first.

I guess I'd better explain. The 4th movie has to be so bad it makes an already terrible 3rd movie seem half decent. Then they reboot.

I see what you mean, and it works in the case Alien 3 vs 4 (though the A3 DC was pretty good and I always thought A3 was ok anyway tbh).

Terminator on the other hand... While 4 was poo, 3 was utter uber poo.

I'm not sure how much worse a 4th matrix movie could be compared to the third one. That would take a special talent :D

Disagree with regard to Aliens - 4 was bad but it was good in a cheesy easy watching kind of way. 3 was just booooooooring. I think 3 fools people into thinking its a deeper, slower paced thinking movie compared to the others but if you actually take the time to look at it in any depth its actually dire.

Regarding the Matrix - first one had a lot of layers to it, while nothing that will completely change your perception of what went on you can go for years before experiencing something that will suddenly show you the significance of something in that movie that you'd totally overlooked at the time, same with rewatching it, etc. you'd understand something after having seen it through that allowed you to see the significance of something that on a 3rd rewatch showed you something else and so on, the 2nd had it but to a much more limited extent and the 3rd and most of the Wachowski movies since have been almost completely devoid of it while later ones like Cloud Atlas try to pretend its there but have only a superficial implementation. Without that no movie will ever really stand upto the original Matrix.

What was the last movie that set so many trends? Wasn't it The Matrix? Flip phones… everyones obsession with the music and it even made it into games via remixes… Trench coats… leather jackets… I remember so many going nuts over flip phones.

Sadly I remember The Matrix bringing some horrific incidents as well…

God that third Matrix moving was sooo bad, the other two are brilliant though.

Id like to see another film WITH Reeves as he did make those films really, its definitely time.

Agree with this. They should have made just the one film & left it at that. I watched both the 2nd & 3rd in the cinema & thought  what's this all about.

As for making new ones, it makes me sad & for some strange reason I want to sit on a park bench & eat a Sarnie. :p

The whole thing basically collapses as soon as Neo meets the architect, who talks for about 45 minutes straight in metaphysical cobblers.

lol I must admit I did struggle to understand that conversation first time round in the cinema.

never heard it put so well however lol.

I was always expecting the 3rd to be some big battle in the machine city. Something spectacular as it was so dark creepy looking. It looked spectacular as I thought it was going to start as they were travelling along blowing up the sentinels and heading for the sky. That was stunning as well but after that it felt a let down because I really expected more since so many were obsessed and always talking about all this cyber punk.

I thought 2&3 were all right.

Nothing on 1 of course but not too bad.

They should have just left it at 1 though and I don't think a 4th would bring much to the table.

15 years ago now...

A prequel could work, a remake would probably fail, and a 4th film will either be epic or *****, tending towards the latter

The first movie was "Lightning in a bottle".

Soon as it came out on VHS rental (yes it came out on vhs tape lol) I watched it, re-wound it, watched again, re-wound it. Rinse and repeat until I had to take it back. Drove my wife up the wall lol.

The second two... well they made a big song and dance but they may as well have not bothered making them. I had built up this image of how things could be within the whole Matrix universe and it all got shot down lol.

So not expecting much with these rumours tbh!

They should have just left it at 1 though

But but!

"I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

I'm going to hang up this phone, and then I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world without you. A world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you."
