New matx build, some advice needed please

Judging by the picture the drive goes in the center and looks like it fits.

P.S I said a H100i fits, the H100i GTX im not sure about as the specs did say it was 3mm wider.

Definitely no window right?

I'd rather not have a window. My reasons are I cant be bothered with trying to make everything look neat and tidy just because you can see it all through the window. I also think whilst the pc is in the living room imo it will look better without a window.

Thought you had a drive.

When you do get a retail one as they tend to come with the software needed for playback.

Most of these case choice nightmares could have been avoided with a external drive.

Yeah you're right I will just use the external drive I already own.

I wonder if I am better off placing a thread in the case section?

That wont help much as I know most things:)

If you went external drive (samsung have one listed here) then that takes you back to the Phanteks mentioned a few posts up or the Bitfenix Phenom.

The Phanteks is too tall and not particularly nice to look at imo. I do like the Bitfenix Phenom. Shame all the usb/audio connectors, power button are on the side but hey there is no perfect case.

I see you've put a corsair GTX cooler, not sure that will fit the 250D, the h100i GT will though.

I see every spec has the BenQ monitor for £300 - why? Is there something special about this monitor?

Theres no such thing as a H100i GT.

The monitor is 27", 1440P and IPS with a fully adjustable stand.

The GTX will fit in a 250D, 30mm is the absolute maximum though and it's easier if you use a board like the Asus that does not run cables along that edge of the board.

Corsair have made a few video's/blog of their full custom set up using a 30mm rad on the side.

Cool :) - I have lots of experience with the h100i in the 250D but none of the GTX variant.

According to Corsairs website both radiators on the H100i and the H100i GTX are the same size of 240mm x 25mm.

When you mention its easier using an Asus board because the cables don't run that side would you mind explaining exactly what you mean please?

EDIT:

Having looked at the Asus boards I see the Maximus VII Impact has the 24pin and the cpu power socket all on one side. The Z97I Plus has the cpu power along the adjacent side though.

Yep, I have had a 250D for some time - I have had a Asus Impact VI and I've currently got a temp build with an Impact VII in there - all the power and SATA are along that side to make cable managment a bit easier.

Yeah it certainly will help with cable management.

That will all work and will be quite a powerful little system.

The 250D will take 2x 3.5" HDD and 2x 2.5" HDD and 1x 5.25" Optical/enclosure drive.

Yeah Im looking forward to building it once I have the funds sorted which should only be in a week or two. :D

That is exactly what I was referring to, normally there would be enough space to run the cable straight down but with a 30mm radiator you cant so it looks messy.
