As one of the more vocal critics of the possibility that the gameplay of the older Metal Gear Solid games would not fit the amazing graphics of Guns of the Patriots, I am very happy to see the new gameplay, it looks like it plays well-made and solid.

Looks pretty amazing - lot of menu action going on there though wasn't there :)

Gametrailers have it up now btw for anyone still having trouble.
 
Looks good but not overly fantastic graphically.

Got some neat touches like barrel roll etc i think the Camo is stupid you stick out like sore thumb hehe even if it nice idea you would notice if that was the floor or not.

I know in old games you could pull out Cardboard box etc from equipment but so weird seeing a barrel appear from nowhere.
 
Im incredibly disappointed by that.

I'll start with the good, the engine looks very good, some lovely animations. Glad you can play the game in over the shoulder and fps as well if you choose. The interface looks very smooth as well

But what the hell is that camo system? am i supposed to believe a soldier would not see a man lying on a flat floor?!?! that just looked shocking, the drum barrel bit looked completely unbelievable as did the statue. Some of the animations looked very dodgy (the guys he shot on the rooftop who seemed to die, then realise they were in a big screen blockbuster and lept over the edge), the A.I seemed extremely suspect, not hearing snake drop down from the floor above when he was walking by. Also there were a couple of points in the video where the soldiers would almost certainly have seen him but didn't.

I dont know, im hoping its early code (whens this due out?) but that left me feeling very underwhelmed :(

Actually that's exactly how I feel after watching all of it.
 
The playthrough has been confirmed to be on easy difficulty, as it was meant to be a demonstration of the new gameplay features in the game.

The AI can be explained with it being in easy mode, and will be totally unoptimized at the moment. The idea was to show off the whole engine and gameplay.
As for the camo suit, i think it will be good. It wont offer a total hiding solution, but will make it easier to hide in certain areas. Much like you collected different camo in MGS3 to hide in different surroundings. In MGS4 with it being set in the future and in a city, this is the best way to add to that.
I can't see the final game having snake laying on the floor and it fooling anyone, especially when talking about you becoming smelly from being in the rubbish giving your position away.
I agree the barrel was ridiculous, but tbh i think that is just Kojima experimenting at the moment. He will be seeing all the feedback and he will change it, maybe he will set it so you can hide in one of the barrels that is already there, which would be a lot better.
You need to remember that this is still early code, most likely pre alpha or early alpha, i would be surprised if we seen it in under 8-9 months, so being that far away, the game is coming along nicely.
I think it looks great, classic Metal Gear, thank god there doesn't seem to be anything drastic happening with the gameplay etc :D
