I can't see the final game having snake laying on the floor and it fooling anyone, especially when talking about you becoming smelly from being in the rubbish giving your position away.
I agree the barrel was ridiculous, but tbh i think that is just Kojima experimenting at the moment. He will be seeing all the feedback and he will change it, maybe he will set it so you can hide in one of the barrels that is already there, which would be a lot better.
You need to remember that this is still early code, most likely pre alpha or early alpha, i would be surprised if we seen it in under 8-9 months, so being that far away, the game is coming along nicely.
I think it looks great, classic Metal Gear, thank god there doesn't seem to be anything drastic happening with the gameplay etc :D

thats basically what im hoping, the engine itself looks fantastic and has a lot of potential, its basically just down to optimizing the a.i. (wasn't aware it was on easy, sets my mind at ease a little, although a.i. on easy shouldn't really be stupid, just do less damage, be easier to kill that sort of stuff imo)

The vision range works similarly to the previous games. The enemy vision cones were a lot smaller on easier settings. If you ever played MGS2 on European Extreme, the guards would spot you miles away = game over on the hardest difficulty.

Kojima knows the idea is getting tired now, hence Snake aging and him retiring.
 
I only ever played a bit of metal gear solid and got really bored with it, but what was with him throwing up then pulling out a magazine full of women :confused:
The whole camosuit idea is really lame, hes a giant lump with black boots lying on the floor!

Why such fuss about this game?

Supposedly the first games were epic, i never got into them was always a splinter cell man myself, so anyone whos played the others will be hyped :) but i have to agree it looks absolutely meh, PS3 really does have a problem with textures and gameplay seems to involve a lot of menu switching etc. :(
 
I'm guessing it works like the previous snake eater.

So camo can give you 100% invisibility at times, even if stood right next to someone(Stealth Suit)

Considering that was a Demo, and the AI was set to Easy according to the write up. I wouldn't take the soldier reactions to a guy lying on the floor to heart.

He was possibly using a lot of features we wont see, Note he had all weapons and Items in his inventory aswell.
 
Think i must need a new monitor or something if this doesnt look good to some people! I thought it looked great, some of the animations were a bit off in places. It looked like it had no jaggies , had a decent frame rate, the particle effects looked realistic and a good sense of scale to the whole thing. Think the active camo should only work at a distance not on top of the AI, it just looks too obvious as surely the differences in height between the floor and some bloke lying on it would be to much. Maybe laying near some rubble or a small wall would work better and be more realistic but MGS wasn't made to be 100% real. I dont think in game you would actually use the menu that much as Kojima was just showing off aspects and features of the game.I expect most of the problems to be sorted when the game is finished for early 2008. I would advise to watch the HD trailers though all the others dont give the game justice.

It looks bloody amazing.

And looks fun to play aswell.

I feel abit annoyed that I'm not going to get the chance to play it any time soon though with not being able to afford a PS3 or little to no chance of it getting to the 360 :(

Also notice how smooth it was, It reminded me of the Kinshasha levels of SC : Double Agent, however that was ruined my godawful AI and terrible slowdown on the 360 (no idea what it was like on the PS3)

Love how it's kept a bit of the stupid humour in aswell.
 
What looks so good about it? I just see the same worn out idea but very highly polished with incredibly well directed cut scenes.

In my opinion they should just hurry up and make a movie.
 
What is with all the moaners on here? MGS has never taken itself particualrly seriously, its a piece of fun. I think it looks superb, and just great fun to play. Gotta love the 360 fanboys having a bit of a moan :p ;)

your suit changes colour so you become invisible?

They've completely butchered the franchise and tried ridiculous ideas to try and make it different to splinter cell.

Game looks like a joke tbh
 
That looked amazing! Personally I can't wait for MGS4 and I'm glad I have a PS3 so I can play it.

They have just expanded on the things you could do in the previous games, using the environment and your equipment to evade the enemy. There's always been silly features in the Metal Gear Solid series, like the exclamation marks above enemies' heads or the porn mags.
