Hopefully this doesn't get moved to the mobiles section as there are other issues involved here.

Basically yesterday I ordered a new mobile from T-mobile. I paid £46 for the handset incl delivery. Basically it was guaranteed before 1pm and has arrived at all, despite the Royal mail website claiming it was delivered. So at this point I'm left without a mobile (not that it's a major issue but I am paying for it), out of £46, with some dishonest neighbour/postie texting away with my D900 - T-mobile have placed a block on calls/texts though.

Where do I stand with this? I've called T-mobile, they say that I must wait 72 hours on the signature being received from RM and atm from their point of view the contract is valid and I can't cancel..

Am I right in thinking it's T-mobiles responsibility to get the phone to me as opposed to them passing the buck onto RM? TBH, it's as though they believe I have the phone, but just trying to get out of the contract.

Any advice greatly appreciated

If it required a signature to sign for the phone, they wont match so I wouldnt worry, they will have to send you another phone.

This is not the way I imagined making my introductory post to the OCUK community, but hey, it's an ice breaker!

Being a postie myself I am intrigued by the website claiming the item to have been delivered. Have you checked the signature that should have accompanied the confirmation? And was it delivered to your workplace or home?

Personally I treat Special Delivery stuff with some considerable caution as very close tabs are kept on what we take out of the delivery office and on the form we bring back. This shows what we have been able, or more annoyingly, unable to deliver.

Also Special Delivery items must only go to the address stated, and certainly not be left with, or signed for by a neighbour. That's a big no no!

Anyway, having been a long time lurker, I'd best say hello to everyone! Or at least to those in this thread getting ready to slate Royal Mail or T-mobile :D

Hehe, welcome to ocuk!

Well, yeah basically it states on the RM website that it's been delivered to my home address which I reconfirmed with T-mobile just incase. There's no signature yet, I have to wait 72 hours for it to appear on the website apparently, until then everyones hands are tied. The only thing I can think of is that it's been accidently delivered to the wrong address and they've just gone ahead and signed for it. When I worked for Telewest the same thing would happen infrequently with the self-install kits.

Thanks for the welcome!

Personally I'd go down to the local delivery office and make a few, shall we say polite enquiries... They should know who delivered the item, and once word makes its way out of the front office to the sorting area it will at least make the guilty postie sweat a bit! Even if you have to wait for another phone to be sent out, at least you will have had some small revenge ;)

Thank you Matt-Page. I feel all warm inside now! :D

Do lots of posties leave packages with neighbours? I would hate the thought of it being left with mine, I've only ever spoken to one of my neighbours properly, and she's 94!
Strictly speaking, it's against Royal Mail policy unless the reciever specifically authorizes it. But in reality, it depends on the postman, depends on the people in question and depends on the area. Certainly it's not something I make a habit out of. I just scribble out a nice red form, shove it through your letterbox and trudge off back down the road with the offending parcel muttering uncomplimentary things to myself. ;) Thankfully I had no such problems today.

how would it be t-mobiles fault that it has been signed for?
wait for the signature to show then call t-mob about it again. they can act from that point.

Thanks for the advice, I might just do that :)

It's not necessarily their fault but it's their responsibility legally. At the end of the day they DO choose the courier.
Yeah, that's what I have to do next. 3 days without a mobile, at least it'll give me a little more freedom ;)
