** NEW NVIDIA 9xx SERIES NOTEBOOKS AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER FROM MSI!! **

I was thinking of spending the big bucks and trying to get a laptop that would have been an upgrade from my current PC and using it as a desktop replacement.

Instead I've went with the GS70 2QE and decided to keep them separate. The money I've saved I'm planning on upgrading my 7970 instead!

I work away from home normally during the working week so instead of using the tablet I can play all the PC games I've bought and never touched xD

Hi Delahmed

The GT72 can be upgraded to 32GB memory.

The HD configuration can also be changed.

The GT72 at the moment has no plans to change to an IPS screen.

Hope this helps!

Are we not going to get a UK version of the MSI GT72 DominatorPro-444 GTX980M IPS Screen?

17.3" 1920X1080 IPS Full HD LED Anti-Glare
4th Gen Intel Haswell Core i7-4890HQ
nVidia GTX980M 8GB GDDR5 w/Optimus
32GB DDR3 1600MHz PC12800
1TB M.2 SSD Super RAID 3 (256GB X4)
1TB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA 3 32MB
6X Blu-Ray Writer / 8X DVDRW Combo Drive

Awesome spec and no doubt price but I want one pleeeeeese.

Hi,

Are there any plans for a 3k paneled 8GB 980 GS model? I would like one (I'm not a fan of the larger GT) but the GS seems to only be getting the 3GB 970 with the 3 K screen - in fact there are no 980s on the GS.

Is that a chassis or marketing / launch constraint?

Any ETA info appreciated as I'm in the market now.

The GT72 chassis is very good, I have one of the few that came into stock with an 880m and have been more than happy with it. I may send it back under 60 day no quibble but not because i dont like it, just so I can get one with a 9xx series card in it :)

I just did the same thing. Waiting for the claim to be validated.

Soon :D

I've had the MSI GS70 2QE since Thursday morning and here's my thoughts so far.

Pros
Crazy fast. Running games on the same settings as my desktop 7970 (albeit 1080p instead of 1200p)
Lightweight
Thin
Feels premium probaly due to being metal instead of plastic
Keyboard is decent to use

Cons
Gets REALLY hot (does the chassis act as a heatsink? :P)
Noisy. When the fans get going (on newer games like Ryse) it gets pretty dam loud
Unable to get solid white Keyboard lights. Even though I have set everything to white profiles the bottom keys still have a few green and blue lights.

How hot does it get? are the CPU & GPU super hot or is it the chasis get real hot because of the exhausted heat?
I just ordered my GS70 (will be here tomorrow) and thinking if i need a laptop cooler :P

If its anything like the GT60 it gets HOT lol.

After a long gaming session on my laptop I cant really hold my hand on some parts of the laptop without feeling it almost burn :O

Agreed but it's not really even after that long of a sesh. Older games like split/second and it stays quite cool but 15 mins of Ryse and it's just as you described.

Apologies if it's been answered before, any ideas whether any GS60 or GS70 variants with just the 1TB HDD drive (no SSDs) are going to be released in the UK? I've already got a 256GB SSD that I'd like to use and paying for the included m.2 SSD would be a waste of money in my case.

I like the MSI GS60 2QE-017UK, 15.6" 2880x1620.

But the 970m only comes with 3gb, does having a 6gb version really make a huge difference?

I also like the MSI GT72 2QD (Dominator)-233UK, can all the GPUs be upgraded on all GT72 models?

I've ordered an MSI G70 2QE and hoping to get it delivered next week. Ordered a fan for my lap, anyone got recent reviews of the laptop and how it's performing after having it months? Thanks in advance. Hope I've made a good choice as heard it gets hot, just hoping its not so hot it will shorten the life of the laptop. Thanks
