Disappointing to still see the same cpu in the GT72, would really expect 4810 or better to acompany the 980gtx, especially for a flagship model. I know the reason is the cpu being soldered to the mainboard and still having plenty of GT72 stock with 8 series gpus to shift, but still dissapointed.
Have £2k burning a hole in my pocket atm for the right laptop, the search continues.
Any idea on cost for this please? Need to know if it's more cost effective to upgrade or send the current one back under 60 day policy and order a new one.
Wait the CPU on the top end gaming laptop is BGA rather than socketed?!
Have a look at the Asus G751JY.
Correct, sadly I think it is the way of things to come.
The G751 has an IPS screnen.
It makes sense for the GS range due to space (every MM counts) but for the GT72 model it makes no sense at all given that all of its direct competitors will be using LGA based CPU's (and thus are upgradable by the enthusiast community - which is pretty strong in this market).
Looks like I will be upgrading the CPU & GPU in my Clevo rather than bothering with a new laptop after all.
So I discovered earlier, sounding like we may have a winner.
Preaching to the choir my friend, I very much agree.
Hi Arjibear
am interested in the gt72. Is it possible to get 8 gb ram and upgrade something else?
Also when will gt72 get ips 1080p? How much will it cost?
Cheers.
Hey Fars
LGA CPU's are being made a compulsory thing, so I think they have been made it with MSI for the GT72.
The GS models will come with 6GB 970s around the end of November I am being told.
Of course, some things do not please some people, so all I can really do is tell you what I know on this.
The GT72 is a very decent chassis, and the way it was designed was for longevity hence the GPU part being up gradable.
Hope this helps
