New nvidia GPU card launch October 30th

there was an article about some gpu while back something like 40 nm dx10.1 to challenge 5850

If there was no DX11 then NV would put the gtx285 on 40nm, maybe with 10.1, and would have a card to compete with the 5870, or maybe a little slower. However DX11 changes all that and rebranding last gens cards to compete with various ATI cards wont work this time around.

It will be interesting to see this card. I would like to know how much of a hit, in FPS, physx causes.

They are damaging their reputation in my opinion by continuing to bang on about PhysX and Batman. I wish they'd be quiet, admit defeat, stop treating gamers like idiots and get back to the drawing board.

I think it's ridiculous. Nvidia has banged the drum about physx and you only need you main card for it and not a second PPU card just for the physx and now they are finally admitting that the hit is so big from physx that you do need a secondary card.

If Nvidia wanted to sell the g92 cards by the bucketload they should switch back on physx when an ati card is decteced again and then people would buy the g92 just as physx cards.

They have one game to showcase their wonderful physx and even their best cards are not up to the job.

I can see the g92 getting rebadged in the future as physx only cards again

I remember it well, even people on here were banging that Drum for them as well, its hardly a hit, you won't need a second, blah, blah, blah, but its anywhere from a 30 to 40 frame hit, so you do need a second card, unless the game already runs at 100+ frames, as then you can afford the hit, but not all games that are coming out are going to be doing 100+ frames, i mean what if we have another Crysis, can forget PhsyX in something like that, as you'ld be down to about 20 frames or less with the PhysX on, and thats a terrible hit for a bit of smoke, waving flags and pieces of paper flying about, jesus, how the hell can all that bring Nvidia cards to their knees, i don't know. :p

This is mentioned in another thread i think. Correct me if im wrong, but it will be a single PCB with a GTX 260/275(?) core, and a 250 core for the Phsyx

It really shouldn't be having that kinda effect on performance - especially in Batman AA where most (but not all) of the effects could be done on the CPU with well opptomised routines.

A decent GPU like the 260 should be able to absorb the workload of atleast 200 RBs and a few instances of ragdolls, cloth physics, etc. before theres any noticeable impact on rendering performance - aside from the extra polygon/shaders for those effects... its not like the game even uses any fluid dynamics, etc. which are the real workload...

im interested to see what it is. im in the market for a new graphics card, just ordered a new cpu and motherboard.

well what has been leaked any way could be wrong but sauce seems to be good and would make sence with adverts i have seen for it refering to batman aa
