New PC Build - Help Needed

Sorry i dont know the answers, dude. Never used a fan controller or setup multi displays on an SLI build. I would have thought a SATA SSD should be picked up in BIOS as a normal HDD. Is that not the case? The manual ought to have instructions on the temperature probes, no? Generally you want the tip of a thermocouple to be mounted on whatever it is you're trying to measure the temperature of :)

Yeah but I'm sure I heard you had to enable something to get SSD to run faster? Maybe not.
The manual for the heat sensors just says put them wherever you want :(

I've got one near my GPU's and one just near the front fan. I would like one on the CPU but I think I should hook the CPU fan up to the CPU controller first but I can't because I don't have a 4 pin to 3 pin splitter. :(

Apart from that and the sound card not fitting the computer is running perfectly (very fast). Also, the fans seem very loud when running Crysis.

I'm going to overclock it at the weekend but I want the sensors in first. Anyone know any good guides for overclocking the i7 930 CPU?

I'd get a lot more done if my Virgin Media hadn't been offline for the last few days :(

Thanks,
Hixxey

if under seven days old, send it back under the distance selling regulation.

Does this apply if the item has been opened?

On a side note, neither of the PS/2 ports are working so I'm having to use USB ports for my keyboard and mouse. The mouse PS/2 port was working but now it isn't.

doesnt matter, send a webnote now stating your intention of returning the item using the distance selling regulation, from the support section,

Under the Distance Selling Regulations (2000) you have the right to cancel the contract relating to your order at any time up to the end of 7 working days after the goods are delivered. To exercise your right of cancellation, you must give written notice to Overclockers UK by letter, fax or RMA WebNote giving details of the goods ordered and date received. Notification by phone is not acceptable. If you exercise your right of cancellation under the Distance Selling Regulations (2000) after the goods have been delivered to you, you will be responsible for returning the goods to Overclockers UK at your own cost. The Distance Selling Regulations (2000) places a duty on you to take reasonable care of the goods once you have exercised your right to cancel. Returned items must be packaged properly and shipped in a plain outer box. Please try to include all internal packaging, cables, manuals, drivers and protective bags, however small. Overclockers UK will refund you within 30 days for any sum that has been paid by you or debited from your credit or debit card for the goods. If after exercising your right under the Distance Selling Regulations (2000) you do not return the goods as required, Overclockers UK may charge you a sum not exceeding the direct costs of recovering the goods. When exercising your right to cancel under the Distance Selling Regulations (2000) please return goods to Overclockers UK (Esnet Ltd), 4 Axis, Millenium way, High Carr Business Park, Newcastle-under-lyme, ST5 7UF.

they then send you a RMA number(probably be monday now) and you have I think 30 days to return it.

the most important bit is to tell them within 7days of getting the item that you are sending it back asap, do it now, so the date of your webnote becomes your proof of intention within the 7day period.

dont take any crap from them, its your rights by law.

Thanks. I've done that.
So I should get an RMA number Monday and I just send the sound card back to the address you posted?

you will get some email telling you exactly what to do, and how to package the item(plain box and the RMA number on two sides of the box) or something like that.

OK so I've got an RMA number (I think). Would the RMA be the number in the E-Mail subject?

Like this:

RMA Confirmation - ******

Thanks,
Hixxey

EDIT: Found it, Doesn't matter :-)

aup again i've missed you building this if your going to have the fan controller on auto all the snsors have to be in good possition other wise they might run to low at some point or to high personally when ever i use a fan controller i do away with the sensors just more messy cables in my mind and i juts manually use them as over time you'll find the right ballance between fan speed/temprature hope this helps and tbh i wouldnt bother with ps/2 keyboard just get a usb as ps/2 willl go the same way as the old mouse connection

Just to update the thread, it seems the motherboard PS/2 port is faulty and I am going to have to return it .

Even if I would not be using the port, I don't like the idea of something not working on it when it should be.

Also, I will be posting my build log soon, maybe when I get the board replaced.

Thanks,
Hixxey

Tried a third keyboard on the PS/2 port and that works! So no need to return it now. :)

Shall I put my build log in this thread or start a new one?

Thanks,
Hixxey

Sorry I have not had time to post the build log yet. I've been really busy with University starting.

I'm going to try and get the log up this week.

Thanks,
Hixxey
