personally i have only ever used creative sound cards but with windows 7 i have came accross so many problems crash's for Screch Of Death computer lock ups and hardly any driver support i would stay clear i think you would be better off going with a asus one

as for ram i would got for http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-008-PA&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1389 as a lot off people on her swear by them from what ive seen and will look really good on that gigabyte board and there on today only at only £100

the only thing i would say is change the case as the zalman is cheaper and got better cooling get that with 4 off these Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1900RPM Slip Stream 120mm and a fan controller and you will have a lot of cooling at you desposal as you can but that is just personal choice at the end off the day

I've added the extra four fans and a fan controller. Will this controller work with the fans and case etc...
Also changed the case as the price is better which allows for the fan controller.

yer should be fine the fan controller's are just down to what people think look good and are easy to use the only ones which are head and heels above all the others are the sunbeam ones as you can run the delta focus fan off them. but them Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1900RPM Slip Stream 120mm fans are good as they give out 110cfm's each so you be getting 440cfm off fan air into the case which should really chill them 470's just have a little read on google about how possitive air pressure can help in a pc case

Thanks for the help. I'm going to order now. :D

no worrys glad i can help make sure ya post some pictures and benchmarks when you've built it :)juts make sure ya move the harddrive cage up to the top and your graphics cards will get the full 110 of airflow :) from the back and the same from the side lol

That is a pretty well rounded set up you have put together. Choosing parts for a new build is the best part of the whole process.

nice one mate.

Will do. I'll keep a photo log of the build. Are the fans and fan controllers easy to link up?

Thanks. Yeah I know what you mean. My original basket has changed quite considerably.

yer normally you just put a 4pin molex to it then you have your 4 3pin fan connections just have to be skilled at hiding the wires and you might need 2 3 pin extensions but there only about a quid so you can route it all the wya round to the side so there not streched in the middle of nowhere and reuse one of the 3 pin zalman fans and use that as the exsaust and power it of you mobo as there really quite fans anyway

do you not think he should get an i5 and x2 460s ??
maybe the speaker kit is OTT wen he can just use a headset
with onboard sound

Edit: wer has your speakers gone ? lol

If that's a 'humerous' reference to my suggestions in that other thread - grow up:rolleyes:.

Given the higher budget here and the intended use for 3DS rendering, no, I dont think an i5 with two 460s would be a better choice. The i7 spec arrived at above is ideal for the OP here. It wasn't for the gamer with £400 less to spend. Do you see? Do you understand the concept of considering the OP's individual needs and budget and suggesting a bang-for-buck spec on that basis? I guess not or you wouldn't be making the lame comments :(

the bulk of the extra this guy is spending is going on 2 monitors
sumthing the other guy didnt need. so that basically makes them
even in their budget. ;)
not to mention hes getting an extra 470 aswell!

YOU failed!! end of. a £1400 i5 rig is madness and its a bit
annoying because it could have been me buying it. the only bang you did
was "BANG out of order":o

Lol - how about you stop trolling other people's threads with your nonsensical ramblings that add nothing to the discussion?

I'd invite others to read the thread jakesnake's referring to and find out for themselves who fails at reasoning and forum conduct...

Sorry he decided to inflict himself on this thread too :(

I'm out.

woops here it is again, Round 2 of jakesnake vs Liampose.
nahh just kidding, instead of arguing and proving each other wrong, help spec the OP a system for his needs.

i dont think the sound card is necessary, £50 could be spent elsewhere

and you would have to order that spec within 14hrs for the ram to remain that price.

I think everyone else has done a fine job of that, which is the only thing I popped into this thread to say. Unfortunately I dragged jake in on my feet :)

Stulid - I can vouch for the quality of a dedicated soundcard vs onboard audio. Worth it when connected to decent speakers or a hi-fi.
